The genera Hyperphyscia and Physconia in East Africa

Seven species of the lichen genus Hyperphyscia and three of Physconia in East Africa are treated. The morphology, chemistry, distribution, habitat and relations between the taxa are discussed. Of the genus Hyperphyscia two new species are described, H. isidiata and H. pruinosa , and two new combination made, H. granulata and H. tuckermanii. Of the genus Physconia none of the species has previously been reported from the area.
