Growth layers in dental cementum ofSaguinus monkeys in South America

Dark stained layers were observed in the cementum of the teeth ofSaguinus monkeys living in South America. Since the number of layers correlated with the degree of attrition in the incisor, the dark layers probably showed the growth lines. The teeth of the monkeys captured at the beginning of the wet season showed the incremental dark line around most of the exterior of the cementum.
