| Abstract: | Many hypotheses have been proposed for the evolution of fat deposition in women. Here we examine the empirical basis of the deceptive fat hypothesis. The available evidence suggests that body fat has direct effects on reproduction in women regardless of whether or not it is a signal of condition. |
