Abstract: | Rhodella maculata Evans has been grown in axenic culture. The alga is euryhaline but will not grow in acid conditions. It requires an exogenous source of vitamin B12, is unable to grow in the dark on acetate or glucose and has a limited capability for utilising organic nitrogen sources. |
