Abstract: | The fungal enzyme Coprinus cinereus peroxidase (CIP) can be used for the removal of toxic phenols from water. After treating aqueous solutions of phenols with CIP and H2O2 the phenols polymerized and precipitated. The decrease in phenol concentration was investigated for 10 different phenols. At neutral pH, the investigated phenols were in general removed with high efficiency. |
