| Abstract: | Hedysarum garinense Dehshiri & Maassoumi, a new species endemic to Iran, is described and illustrated. The new species belongs to sect. Crinifera Boiss. in Hedysarum L. (Fabaceae) and is distinct among Iranian species. This species is similar, and probably most closely related to H. nuratense M. Popov. The diagnostic morphological characteristics, as well as a full description, ecological characteristics, and distribution data are given. Hedysarum garinense is evaluated as ‘Vulnerable’ (VU) according to IUCN red list criteria. |
