| Abstract: | Keratin has a steady chemical structure and is uneasy to degrade by proteolytic enzymes. As a special substrate, keratin can be digested by keratinase completely. The keratinase-producing strains, keratin-degrading mechanism, biochemical characteristics of keratinase, and research progresses in molecular biology of keratinase were reviewed here. |
