Abstract: | Summary Functional group content of undegraded humic acids was compared with that of humic acids which had been partially degraded by a strain ofPenicillium frequentans. It was found that cleavage of humic acids by this organism did not involve reduction of the carboxyl groups. It was suggested that one of the steps involved was hydrolysis of the ether bonds present in humic acids. |
