Abstract: | By removing a small amount of yolk, tilapia embryos were dechorionated successfully as early as 30 h after fertilization. Using DASPEI, a mitochondrion-specific fluorescent stain, we were able to determine the first appearance of the mitochondrion rich cells on the surface of the yolk sac 26 h after fertilization ( c. 2 h after the beginning of gastrula stage). However, with scanning electron microscopy examination, no apical crypt could be found until 48 h after fertilization. |
