Abstract:Glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase (E.C. 1.1.1.49) was purified almost homogeneously from the eggs of silkworm, Bombyx mori. Apparent Km values for glucose 6-phosphate (G-6-P) and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP) were estimated to be 1.3 × 10−4M and 1.8 × 10−6M respectively. The optimum pH of the reaction was observed at 9.5–10.0. The apparent molecular weight of the enzyme was determined to be 5.6 × 104 by Sephadex G-150 gel filtration.
