Studies on the kynurenine-3-hydroxylase of Schistocerca gregaria

The kynurenine-3-hydroxylase (E.C. 1.99.1.5) of different tissues of Schistocerca gregaria was studied. This enzyme was found only in the eyes and in the integument. Experiments on subcellular fractions of the epidermal cells showed that the enzyme is localized in the mitochondrial fraction (membranes?). The general characteristics of the enzyme are similar in insects and mammals.
