Ecological approach to the assessment of skin microflora

Possible use of quantitative criteria for estimation of cenoses in skin microflora was studied. The population measures and indices for description of ecosystems were differentiated. A rational order for application of quantitative and nominal characteristics depending on the study aim is proposed and illustrated by an example of investigation of breast skin microflora in pregnant and feeding women. The spheres of the criteria application are discussed. Expediency of the criteria use in clinical microbiology, hygiene, toxicology and cosmetology is grounded.
