Abstract: | A novel Ni(II)-nitronyl nitroxide-substituted thiazole complex, Ni(NIT2-thz)3(ClO4)2 (NIT2-thz = 2-(2′-thiazole)-4,4,5,5-tetramethylimidazoline-1-oxyl-3-oxide) was synthesized and characterized structurally and magnetically. It crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21c. The metal coordination sphere is fully occupied by three chelating nitroxide ligands, showing a distorted octahedral geometry. The complex molecules were connected as 1-D chain structure by the intermolecular interaction. Magnetic studies show that antiferromagnetic couplings occurred between the nickel(II) ion and the organic radicals, and ferromagnetic between the adjacent molecules. |
