| Abstract: | SYNOPSIS. It is evident from the results obtained by UV spectroscopy and chemical analyses that the pigments of the foraminiferan Allogromia laticollaris are carotene waxes of the xanthophyll type. Since none of the pigments was found in the food organisms, one can exclude the possibility that these pigments are derived from food. The origin of the pigments is discussed. |
