The susceptibility of the pea moth, Cydia nigricana, to infection by the granulosis virus of the codling moth, Cydia pomonella

Laboratory studies demonstrated that neonate larvae of the pea moth, Cydia nigricana, are susceptible to infection with a granulosis virus (CpGV) isolated from the codling moth, Cydia pomonella. Comparative LC₅₀ values for C. nigricana and C. pomonella are 1.90 × 10⁵ and 1.54 × 10⁴ capsules/ml of diet, respectively. The virus extracted from CpGV-infected pea moth larvae is serologically related, and probably identical, to CpGV.
