| Abstract: | On the basis of specimen observations and following Wen & Frodin's treatment about the genus Metapanax ,a taxonomic revision of the varieties Nothopanax davidii (Franch.) Harms ex Diels var. gongshangensis Shang and Nothopanax delavayi (Franch.) Harms ex Diels var. longicaudatus Feng in Araliaceae from China was carried out. The results show that: 1. The name of N davidii (Frach.) Harms ex Diels var. gongshangensis Shang should be reduced to a synonym of Metapanax davidii (Franch.) Frodin ex J. Wen & Frodin (= Nothopanax davidii (Franch.) Harms ex Diels). 2. The name of N delavayi (Franch.) Harms ex Diels var. longicaudatus Feng is changed to Metapanax delavayi (Franch.) Frodin ex J. Wen & Frodin var. longicaudatus (Feng) R. Li & H. Li. In addition, some nomenclatural corrections were made for the treatment of the genus " Nothopanax " in some recent Chinese publications. |
