| Abstract: | Serotypic classification of HFRS viruses isolated from rodents and patients were investigated using plaque reduction neutralization test ( PRNT ) . Sera of rabbits inoculated with different HFRS viruses were tested against reference type-1 Hantaan virus and type-2 Seoul virus. The neutralizing titers of antisera of Apod emus isolates against type-1 Hantaan virus were 16-fold higher than those for type-2 Seoul virus, while the antisera of Rattus isolates had titers to type-2 viruses 2-16-fold higher than those for type-1 viruses. So different isolates could be classified into serotype 1 (consistent with Hantaan virus) and serotype 2 (consistent with Seoul virus) .We also found two isolates, one from Rattus, another from patient, which could be classified into serotype 1 by PRNT, which is inconsistent with data previously published. |
