Abstract: | Characterization by peptide mapping and amino acid analysis of the two major pyrenoid polypeptides from the brown alga Pilayella littoralis shows that they are very similar to the subunits of ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase (EC 4.1.1.39) from this alga. The observed similarities are discussed in relation to previous pyrenoid protein characterization from members of the Chlorophyceae.Abbreviations DTT
