Abstract: | Semen, collected from active honey bee drones, was centrifuged to separate spermatozoa from seminal plasma. Enzymes were then extracted from spermatozoa with detergent buffer mixture at 37°C for 1 h. The following hydrolytic-enzyme activities were detected in seminal plasma and/or detergent extracts of sperm: protease (azocoll hydrolysis), hexosaminidase (N-acetyl-β-D-glucosaminidase), hyaluronidase, aryl sulfatase A and B. |
