Abstract: | Five populations of Desmodium nudiflorum were assayed for genetic variability in eight enzyme systems encoding thirteen genetic loci. The proportion of polymorphic loci for the species as a whole is 46.2% while the proportion of polymorphic loci within populations averages 13.5%. Average individual heterozygosity is 2.3%. D. nudiflorum shows significant differences in gene frequencies between populations, and genotypic frequencies within populations conform to Hardy-Weinberg expectations. |
