Isozyme variation in Desmodium nudiflorum

Five populations of Desmodium nudiflorum were assayed for genetic variability in eight enzyme systems encoding thirteen genetic loci. The proportion of polymorphic loci for the species as a whole is 46.2% while the proportion of polymorphic loci within populations averages 13.5%. Average individual heterozygosity is 2.3%. D. nudiflorum shows significant differences in gene frequencies between populations, and genotypic frequencies within populations conform to Hardy-Weinberg expectations.
