Chemical analyses of bovine Descemet's membrane indicate that the bulk of the organic material is collagen. However, the morphological appearance and the solubility of this tissue is different from that of any other known mammalian collagenous tissue. The carbohydrates differ both qualitatively and quantitatively from those in the corneal stroma. |
