Abstract: | Growth responses of Zalerion maritimum (Linder) Anastasiou to salinity and temperature were measured gravimetrically. F values obtained from a two-way analysis of variance indicated significant (P < 0.0001) salinity, temperature, and interaction effects. A Student-Newman-Keuls multiple-range comparison of mean mycelial dry weights at salinity optima in the temperatures tested showed optimum growth at 20 and 25 °C in 29.7 and 33.0‰, respectively. An alternative quantitation method was developed since cold storage was found to affect inoculum vigor. |
