Abstract: | The inhibotors of protein synthesis--actinomycin D and cycloheximide--inhibit endogenous pyrogen production by blood granulocytes in response to stimulation by the bacterial lipopolysaccharide and specific antigranulocytic serum and have no effect on the pyrogen release by exudate leukocytes. These results indicate that the mentioned inhibitors suppress the activation phase, but not the pyrogen labilization process. |
