Abstract: | In this study, we investigated the capabilities for adaptation to reduced salinity in the larvae from spring and summer spawnings
of the same population of the Pacific mussel Crenomytilus grayanus. Spring larvae normally develop and grow when salinity is reduced to 24‰. The lower salinity limit for summer larvae is 20‰.
The differences in adaptive capabilities between the spring and summer larvae may be due to the different temperatures of
spawning and cultivation of the larvae: 11 °C in the spring and 22 °C in the summer. |
