Abstract: | A nuclear magnetic resonance technique, the nuclear Overhauser effect, has been used to confirm the presence of Man alpha 1-2, GlcNAc beta 1-2, and Man alpha 1-3 residues and to establish the branching pattern and sequences in four classes of N-linked oligosaccharides. This method offers a rapid and nondestructive approach to the elucidation of sequences in carbohydrate chains, in contrast to enzymatic and chemical methods. |
