Abstract: | Pivalyl chloride and benzoyl chloride are utilized as reagents for the N-terminal analysis of polypeptide chains. Pivalyl and benzoyl derivatives obtained are analyzed by gas-liquid chromatography using glass capillary columns. The chromatographic resolution of the most common amino acid derivatives allows a quantitative estimation of the N-terminal residues even in the case of complicated peptide mixtures. |
