| Abstract: | A freshwater filamentous cyanobacterium, Nostoc spongiaeforme TISTR 8169, produced and excreted a violet pigment, named nostocine A, in the culture medium. Nostocine A inhibited the growth of some typical strains of microorganisms, algae, cultured plants, and established animal cell lines. |
