Proteins Deiminated by Peptidylarginine Deiminase in Mouse Uterus and Their Changes during the Estrous Cycle

Peptidylarginine deiminase (PAD) catalyzes the formation of citrullyl residues by deimination of arginyl residues of proteins in the presence of Ca²⁺. We found several deiminated proteins in mouse uterus using antibodies recognizing the citrulline residue. The levels of these proteins changed during the estrous cycle in parallel with PAD activity.
