Progress of Differentiation in Mesenchymal Stem Cells into Pancreatic Beta Cells

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) is a kind of mult ip otent adult stem cells that have the ability of differentiation into mesoderm ce lls, even endoderm and neuroectoderm cells in vivo and in vitro. Owning to easy isolation and high expansive potential, as well as lower immune response , MSCs have been considered as prospective adult stem cells in cell therapy and tissue engineering. Not only the characters and advantages of MSCs, but also the technological approaches and development trend of the committed differentiation into pancreatic beta cells were reviewed.
