Abstract: | The cytochrome components of adult Paragonimus miyazakii mitochondria were investigated by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. The mitochondria were found to contain cytochromes b, c1, c and aa3. Two types of mitochondria, lightweight mitochondria (LWMt) and heavyweight mitochondria (HWMt), were obtained by centrifugation from the mitochondrial fraction of the adult Paragonimus ohirai. The succinate-reduced and oxidized difference spectrum of LWMt and HWMt at ?196°C revealed that both mitochondria contained at least functional levels of cytochromes b, c1, c and a low value of aa3. Although succinate-reduced cytochromes of LWMt reoxidized in the presence of air, those of HWMt did so only minimally. |
