Physiological Functions and Research Progress in Bio-Active Peptides

With the improvement of people's living standard,and accompanied with modern civilization various kind of rich man's diseases such as hypertension,high blood lipid,obesity,diabetes,and cancer have drawn more and more people's attention.People's consumption ideas has been changed these days.They did not satisfied with eating gluttonously only but started to pursuit for controlling the diseases and therapy.Bio-active peptides possesses physiological functions such as regulation of nerves,hormone,and immune,resistances against thrombus, hypertension,cholesterol,bacteria,viruses,and oxidation,clearing free radical,improving the digestion of nitrogenous foods,mineral transportation,growth promotion,distinctive flavor and taste regulation,and hardness etc.As a result,they have been famed as new darling of human health in 21st century.Physiological functions,characteristics,and research progress on bio-active peptides were reviewed in this paper.
