Abstract: | Examination of Trentepohlia Martius species indicated significant morphological diversity within the genus. This diversity forms the basis for the description of a new genus, Printzina Thompson and Wujek. The generic taxonomy is based on the nature of its superficial growth on leaves or twigs and a papilla pore basal on the sporangium, adjacent to the area of attachment. Certain nomen-clatural treatments were required: the transfer of nine species from Trentepohlia and the description of one new species, Printzina ampla. |
