Leaf pocket resins of 11 species of the tropical arborescent genus Hymenaea are virtually identical qualitatively, but of widely varying quantitative proportions. Within this large range of variability, several strong positive quantitative correlations between resin constituents were found, especially between caryophyllene and β-humulene and between γ-muurolene and δ-cadinene. These data lead to clarification of sesquiterpene biosynthetic routes in Hymenaea. In addition, quantitative relationships found among caryophyllene, α- and β-selinene, γ-muurolene and δ-cadinene are explained only with difficulty by long accepted biosynthetic pathways, and the intermediacy of germacrenes is suggested. 相似文献

A new caryophyllene, named pulicaryenne A ( 1 ), along with four other known caryophyllene derivatives ( 2 , 3 , 4 and 5 ) were isolated from the ethyl acetate extract of aerial parts of Pulicaria vulgaris Gaertn . (Asteraceae). All compounds were isolated for the first time from this species. Compound 2 was identified as a new epimer of a known caryophyllene derivative isolated previously from P. dysenterica. Their structures were established by spectroscopic means including NMR analysis (1D‐ and 2D‐NMR) and ESI‐TOF‐MS. All compounds were evaluated for their anticholinesterase, antityrosinase and cytotoxic activities against two human cell lines (A549 and HeLa). Results showed that compound 5 exhibited the highest cytotoxic effect against A549 and anticholinesterase activity with IC50 values of 8.50±0.75 and 6.45±0.09 μg/mL, respectively. Furthermore, compound 5 showed also an interesting antityrosinase activity with percent inhibition value of 79.0±2.5 % at 50 μg/mL. The bioactivity and drug likeness scores of the isolated compounds 1–5 were calculated using Molinspiration software and discussed. These results may suggest that the five caryophyllene derivatives endowed with good biological properties, which could be used as bioactive alternatives in pharmaceutical preparations. 相似文献

Mexican Arnica Anti–Inflammatory Action: Plant Age Is Correlated with the Concentration of Anti–inflammatory Sesquiterpenes
in the Medicinal Plant
Heterotheca inuloides
Cass. (Asteraceae). Mexican árnica (Heterotheca inuloides Cass.) is a widely used anti–inflammatory medicinal plant in Mexican folk medicine. Although it has been suggested that plant
age, fertilization, and harvesting regime influence the concentration of secondary compounds affecting the therapeutic activity
of the plant, the effect of these variables on the concentration of the Mexican árnica anti–inflammatory compounds was not
known. We quantified anti–inflammatory sesquiterpenes (caryolan–1, 9β–diol, cadalen–15–oic acid, 7–hydroxycadalene, 4–hydroxy–2–isopropyl–4,
7–dimethyl–1[4H] naftalinone, 7–hydroxy–4αH–3, 4–dihydrocadalene, β–caryophyllene, and β–caryophyllene epoxide) in Mexican
árnica plants subjected to fertilization and successive harvests of flowering stems, conditions that mimic the cultivation
and harvesting for árnica in México. Fertilization and successive harvesting and their interaction had no significant effect
on the concentration of anti–inflammatory compounds. However, the concentrations of these compounds were 60% higher in flowering
stems from 15–month–old plants than in those from 4– or 8–month–old plants and was independent of the number of harvests and
fertilization regime applied. 相似文献

Use of caryophyllene oxide as an antifungal agent in an in vitro experimental model of onychomycosis
Caryophyllene oxide, an oxygenated terpenoid, well known as preservative in food, drugs and cosmetics, has been tested in vitro as an antifungal against dermatophytes. Its antifungal activity has been compared to ciclopiroxolamine and sulconazole, commonly used in onychomycosis treatment and chosen because of their very different chemical structures. So, a new model has been tested, utilizing sheep hoof plates in order to simulate human nails, which are almost unobtainable for in vitro tests. Three protocols were utilized: pre-treatment. simultaneous treatment and post-treatment. Among these, the post-treatment method was the best to simulate antifungal therapy. as it permitted testing and comparing the efficiency of different antifungal drugs. This revised version was published online in October 2005 with corrections to the Cover Date. 相似文献

Herbivorous insects use olfactory cues to locate their host plant within a complex olfactory landscape. One such example is the European grapevine moth Lobesia botrana, a key pest of the grape in the Palearctic region, which recently expanded both its geographical and host plant range. Previous studies have showed that a synthetic blend of the three terpenoids, (E)‐β‐caryophyllene, (E)‐β‐farnesene and (E)‐4,8‐dimethyl‐1,3,7‐nonatriene (DMNT), was as attractive for the moth as the complete grape odour profile in laboratory conditions. The same studies also showed that the specific ratio of these compounds in the grape bouquet was crucial because a percentage variation in any of the three volatiles resulted in almost complete inhibition of the blend's attractiveness. Here, we report on the creation of stable grapevine transgenic lines, with modified (E)‐β‐caryophyllene and (E)‐β‐farnesene emission and thus with an altered ratio compared to the original plants. When headspace collections from these plants were tested in wind tunnel behavioural assays, they were less attractive than control extracts. This result was confirmed by testing synthetic blends imitating the ratio found on natural and transformed plants, as well as by testing the plants themselves. With this evidence, we suggest that a strategy based on volatile ratio modification may also interfere with the host‐finding behaviour of L. botrana in the field, creating avenues for new pest control methods. 相似文献

Inhibitory effects of Hymenaea and Copaifera leaf resins on the leaf fungus, Pestalotia subcuticularis 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Leaf resins in the leguminous genera Hymenaea and Copaifera may play a role in restricting infection by the associated leaf fungus, Pestalotia. We tested this hypothesis by assessing growth of the geographically widespread Pestalotia subcuticularis presented with different compositions of resins. Leaf resins of Hymenaea and Copaifera are composed of the same suite of sesquiterpene hydrocarbons, but these vary quantitatively to form discrete compositional patterns among individuals and populations. Leaf resins may also contain sesquiterpene oxides; caryophyllene oxide, which may have been formed from the caryophyllene precursor common in these resins, inhibited fungal growth in vitro. 相似文献

A new caryophyllene derivative, 15-acetoxy-5,6-dihydro-6,7-dehydrocaryophyllen-5-one, has been isolated from the roots of Fleischmannia pycnocephaloides. Other Fleischmannia sp. yielded previously known compounds. 相似文献
