Data on the morphology of the egg, mature larva (L3) and pupa of Squamapion elongatum (Germar, 1817) are presented. The development cycle of this species lasts 51–54 days: a 12-day egg period, a 30-day larval period, and a 12-day pupal period, on average. The larvae are attacked by parasitic hymenopterans of the superfamily Chalcidoidea.  相似文献

Harpapion safranum sp. n. and Harpapion borisi sp. n. are described and figured. Harpapion vietnamense (Korotyaev, 1987) is recorded as new for China. The genitalia andterminalia of H. considerandum, H. coelebs andH. vietnamense are redescribed and redrawn. The diagnostic characters of Harpapion are defined. A key to the known species of the genus Harpapion from China is provided. Affinities with the genus Flavopodapion Korotyaev, 1987 are discussed.  相似文献

Les espèces seychelloises du genre Cratopus Schoenherr 1823 sont révisées, et quatre nouveaux taxons sont décrits. Espèce de grande taille (16–19 mm), C. roberti n. sp. possède dix stries élytrales, des fémurs antérieurs portant de petits denticules, y compris sur la dent, et un revêtement squamuleux vert métallique, avec une bande blanche le long de la base et des côtés des élytres, ainsi que sur les côtés du prothorax. Long de 8–10 mm, C. venustus n. sp. se reconnait à ses téguments noirs et brillants, sa vestiture réduite bleu-vert métallique, ses douze stries élytrales de forts points, ainsi qu’à ses interstries 8 et 9 caréniformes. C. griseovestitus northislandensis n. ssp. diffère de la forme nominative C. griseovestitus griseovestitus Linell 1887 par ses téguments coriacés et sa vestiture métallique du dessus dense, à reflets cuivre doré ou verts, et non gris blanchâtre ou bleuâtre. C. griseovestitus fregata n. ssp. diffère de son côté de la forme nominative par ses téguments bruns plus ou moins foncés, saupoudrés de poils et de squamules très petits. Les synonymies de C. parcesquamosus Fairmaire 1893 et de C. abbotti Linell 1907 avec C. aurostriatus Fairmaire 1892 sont confirmées, et enfin un tableau de détermination des espèces seychelloises du genre est donné. Les Cratopus des Seychelles se divisent en un ensemble de trois espèces du groupe de griseovestitus, à large répartition, habitant les côtes et les îles coralliennes basses et probablement d’arrivée récente, et un ensemble de six espèces limitées aux îles granitiques, où cinq d’entre elles ont une distribution limitée à l’intérieur d’une île ou deux. Elles sont certainement de souche beaucoup plus ancienne. Les Cratopus des Seychelles sont folivores à l’état adulte, et souvent polyphages. Une liste de leurs plantes-hôtes connues est donnée.  相似文献

Callosobruchus maculatus (Cm) and Zabrotes subfasciatus (Zs) were reared on resistant (IT81D-1045) and on susceptible (Epace 10) cowpea seeds. The emergence of adult insects, total developmental period (TDP) and excretion of trypsin inhibitor and vicilin were determined for both bruchid populations. Parameter evaluation showed that the Zs populations emerged from both seeds had no significant differences in emergence and TDP. The Cm population raised from resistant seeds had lower emergence (5.6+/-1.3%) and delayed TDP (46+/-1.25 days) than those emerged from susceptible seeds. The excretion of defense proteins showed that Zs reared in resistant seeds excreted 1.7 times more trypsin inhibitor, but this did not affect emergence or TDP. Furthermore, Cm population emerged from resistant seeds excreted 7 times higher vicilin and 0.4 times less trypsin inhibitor than that emerged from susceptible seeds. These results indicate that vicilins from resistant seeds are involved to significantly longer TDP (46 days) and also drastic reduction of insect emergence ( approximately 5%) of C. maculatus.  相似文献

Cultivated varieties of the common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) contain an α-amylase inhibitor (αAI-1) that inhibits porcine pancreatic α-amylase (PPA; EC 3.2.1.1) and the amylases of certain seed weevils, but not that of the Mexican bean weevil, Zabrotes subfasciatus. A variant of αAI-1, called αAI-2, is found in certain arcelin-containing wild accessions of the common bean. The variant αAI-2 inhibits Z. subfasciatus α-amylase (ZSA), but not PPA. We purified αAI-2 and studied its interaction with ZSA. The formation of the αAI-2-ZSA complex is time-dependent and occurs maximally at pH 5.0 or below. When a previously isolated cDNA assumed to encode αAI-2 was expressed in transgenic tobacco seeds, the seeds contained inhibitory activity toward ZSA but not toward PPA, confirming that the cDNA encodes αAI-2. The inhibitors αAI-1 and αAI-2 share 78% sequence identity at the amino acid level and they differ in an important region that is part of the site where the enzyme binds the inhibitor. The swap of a tripeptide in this region was not sufficient to change the specificity of the two inhibitors towards their respective enzymes. The three-dimensional structure of the αAI-1/PPA complex has just been solved and we recently obtained the derived amino acid sequence of ZSA. This additional information allows us to discuss the results described here in the framework of the amino acid residues of both proteins involved in the formation of the enzyme-inhibitor complex and to pinpoint the amino acids responsible for the specificity of the interaction. We demonstrated that a dried mycelium formulation of an indigenous strain of Metarhizium anisopliae has good potential as an effective biopesticide against the black vine weevil (BVW), Otiorhynchus sulcatus (F.), and the cranberry girdler (CG), Chrysoteuchia topiaria (Zeller). The formulation was produced at moderate sized batches scales (~ 100g product per batch) using inexpensive and easily obtainable equipment (< US$1000). Levels of conidiation were consistent among production batches and storage intervals with the product remaining viable for long time periods at 4&#176;C, in one case for more than a year. Levels of contamination by yeasts and other benign fungi were also consistent. Fewer BVW and CG were found in small plots treated with the dried mycelium formulation than in untreated plots, but differences were not always significant. A waxmoth ( Galleria mellonella ) bait bioassay demonstrated the formulation remained viable in the soil over long time periods (> 7 months). Percentage of M. anisopliae infected waxmoth larvae was significantly affected by rate.  相似文献

The present study investigated the way a wild bruchid, Kytorhinus sharpianus, distributes its eggs on host pods. First, we counted the number of eggs per pod on the host plant (Sophola flavescens) in the field. The egg-distributions by the overwintered-generation adults in July and by the second-generation adults in mid October did not deviate from Poisson distribution because of small numbers of eggs laid. However, the egg-distribution in late August when many first-generation adults emerged was significantly contagious. The deposition of eggs was determined for three types of pods: (A) clean pods, (B) pods with eggs, and (C) those which eggs had been laid on but were removed from later. The numbers of eggs laid newly on three types of pods were significantly different; A>C>B, suggesting that an oviposition marker pheromone (O.M.P.) caused females to avoid pods on which eggs were deposited. Egg-shells reinforced that response. Monte Carlo simulations for the egg-distribution on pods predicted that even if females avoid pods with heavy egg-load through O.M.P., the egg-distribution becomes contagious when there is a large heterogeneity in quality of the pods.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The Red Palm Weevil (RPW) is the most destructive pest of the date palm in the world and a serious pest of coconuts. The insect has caused up to 20% loss of these plantations in Asia and the Middle East. The economic damage to palm crops due to RPW could be mitigated significantly by bioacoustics recognition in an earlier phase of infestation and by applying the appropriate treatment. This study is conducted under the hypothesis that distinctive spectral and temporal features in RPW larval sounds can be combined to construct improved indicators for automated detection of infestations. In this paper, a signal processing system is developed with available acoustic technology to detect the existence of RPW in a tree through its feeding sounds. A large set of features are extracted, including unconventional features such as temporal roll-off, temporal slope and temporal spread. Additionally, an analysis is provided of the criteria for the choice of the optimum frame length, as well as the selection of the suitable window function. The results confirm the efficiency of the developed system with the selected representative features, window functions and frame length to detect the existence of the RPW.  相似文献

Pachnobium dreuxi, nouvelle espèce et nouveau genre de Curculionidae Ectemnorrhininae des îles Crozet, dans l’Océan Indien sud, a été découvert sous forme fossile dans une séquence sédimentaire holocène. Deux spécimens modernes ont ensuite été trouvés parmi le matériel conservé au Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle de Paris. Il diffère très nettement de toutes les autres espèces connues de la sous-famille par son rostre profondément émarginé au sommet, sa tête massive, sa sclérotinisation réduite, ses tibias antérieurs droits et aplatis, etc. Sa biologie et son écologie sont presque entièrement inconnues, bien que certains aspects de sa morphologie comme sa faible sclérotinisation et ses yeux relativement petits soient en faveur d’une vie cachée, voire hypogée, par exemple dans la litière végétale ou dans les nids de pétrels. Les reconstructions paléoenvironnementales suggèrent qu’il fréquente des habitats à végétation dense. L’absence de captures modernes à l’île de la Possession pose la question de sa présence actuelle dans cette localité.  相似文献

In the chestnut weevil Curculio elephas, adult emergences spread over 3 or 4 years due to prolonged larval diapause in some individuals. Weevils with an extended diapause emerge, on the average, 1–10 days before those with simple diapause, but whatever the age of insects, emergences occur always from mid-August to early October. When the summer is dry, some adults cannot emerge because of the hardness of the soil. Emergence sucess of adults is smaller in females than in males. The result is that the sex ratio is female-biased before emergence and male-biased after. Summer drought cannot be predicted by the chestnut weevil, and when the soil is dry 27–78% of females cannot emerge and do not reproduce. The year after a summer drought, many reproducing females may emerge from larvae with prolonged diapause. These results suggest an evolutionary influence on the variability in diapause duration. Computer simulations and observations do not support the hypothesis that the main cause of variation in diapause length is the existence of several distinct genotypes within populations. On the contrary, our data strengthen the hypothesis for coin-flipping plasticity discussed in a previous paper.  相似文献
