In a study of the effect of short-term storage on the hatching rate of common carp Cyprinus carpio and tench Tinca tinca ova in vitro in various extenders at 21° C under aerobic conditions, the best extender for 30 min storage for common carp appeared to be Dettlaff 1. This gave the same hatching rate as controls without extender (55% v. 56%). For 60 min storage of ova, the best extenders were Dettlaff 2 (24% hatching rate) and Dettlaff 3 (30%), but hatching was significantly lower than in the control (58%). In carp ovarian artificial fluid (CAF) extender, the hatching rate of common carp ova was also high after 10 min, but decreased to 12% after 30 min. In tench, the hatching rate of ova increased after 10 min storage in Dettlaff 5 extender (44%) compared to the control (41%) without extender. However, it was significantly lower after storage in Dettlaff 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and CAF extenders for 20, 30 and 60 min, compared to controls. Malformations (10–50%) were observed in the tench second control groups without extender after 10, 20 and 30 min storage of ova.  相似文献

Two experiments were carried out in which male and female tench Tinca tinca were placed in individual containers and tritiated steroids then added to the water. Water samples were collected over the next 6 or 7 h and the fish then sacrificed, bled and the gall bladder removed. Radioactivity was counted in all the samples. Over the course of the exposure period in the first experiment (7 h), radioactivity of 11‐ketotestosterone (11‐KT) in the water was depleted by 11%, 17,20β‐dihydroxypregn‐4‐en‐3‐one (17,20ß‐P) and 17,20α‐dihydroxypregn‐4‐en‐3‐one (17,20α‐P) by 28%, testosterone (T) by 56% and androstenedione (AD) by 68%. HPLC analysis of water samples at 3 h indicated that none of the steroids was extensively metabolized during the experiment. Females had a faster rate of uptake of AD than males. In the second experiment (6 h), radioactivity of cortisol in the water was depleted by 5%, 11‐KT by 7%, 17‐hydroxypregnen‐4‐ene (17‐P) by 17%, 17β‐oestradiol (E2) by 35%, T by 37% and AD by 44%. In both experiments, the amounts of radioactivity that were recovered from the gall bladder and plasma were positively correlated with the rate of disappearance of radioactivity from the water. The ability of the steroids to bind to sex steroid binding protein (SBP) of tench plasma was tested by incubating plasma with radioactive steroids and then separating bound and free with ice cold dextran‐coated charcoal. When plasma at a final dilution of 1 : 60 (v/v) was incubated with 5 nM of each steroid, the percentage of radiolabel bound to SBP was: T 48% AD 44%, E2 30%, 17‐P 17%, 11‐KT 13·2%, 17,20α‐P 10·3%, 17,20β‐P 4·5% and cortisol 0%. Saturation analysis established dissociation constants (Kd; mean ± s .e .) of 3·4 ± 0·4, 2·2 ± 0·2, 4·0 ± 0·3. 9·0 ± 2·8 and 51·8 nM and binding capacities (Bmax) of 201 ± 29, 201 ± 33, 165 ± 3, 187 ± 15 and 13·4 nM for T, AD, E2,17‐P and 17,20β‐P respectively. The ability of steroids to displace tritiated T and AD from SBP was in the rank order AD > T > E2 > 17,20αP = 17,20β‐P = 11‐KT = 17‐P > cortisol. Thus, the ability of tench plasma to bind certain steroids showed a relatively strong correlation with the ability of the fish to take up these steroids from water. Modelling of data for AD and 17,20β‐P helped to show why and how plasma binding had a strong influence on the rate of uptake (and hence release) of the steroids.  相似文献

Eggs of diploid tench Tinca tinca were half-stripped out and stored for 0 (control batch), 1, 3 and 5 h at mean ± s . d . 17·0 ± 0·4 and 21·9 ± 0·5° C or for 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 h at 24·0 ± 0·0° C in vitro prior to fertilization. The eggs remaining in vivo in the fish kept at 17·0 ± 0·4 and 21·9 ± 0·5° C were collected and fertilized in the same time intervals. Fertilization rate and larval yield mostly decreased after 3–5 h storage of eggs both in vitro and in vivo and only the diploid larvae were found in all control batches. Triploid larval yields increased to a maximum 5·26% after 5 h in vitro storage at 24·0° C and 1·07 and 1·60% after 3 h in vitro storage at 21·9 and 17·0° C, respectively. Triploid larval yield during in vivo storage at 21·9° C reached a maximum 0·91% after 5 h. As the spontaneous autotriploid larvae arose solely from fertilized eggs previously subjected to postovulatory egg ageing by means of prolongated storage, the autotriploidy was probably caused by failure of extrusion of the second polar body.  相似文献

The phagocytic activity of pronephric granulocytes of spring tench at 22° C was evaluated. The head kidney was chosen because it is known to be the principal hematopoietic organ in teleosts. The granulocytes were isolated by Percoll density gradient centrifugation. Head kidney granulocytes were found capable of adhering both to nylon fibre and to a smooth plastic surface, to have a mobility capacity which is both spontaneous and oriented to a chemoattractant, and be able to attach and ingest Candida albicans (with and without serum) as well as latex beads (inert particles). Moreover, they show candidicidal activity and a capacity to increase NBT (nitroblue tetrazolium) reduction.  相似文献

Effects of benthivorous fish on biogeochemical processes in lake sediments   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
1. Studies of aquatic environments have shown that community organisation may strongly affect ecosystem functioning. One common phenomenon is a change in nutrient level following a shift in the fish community composition. Although several hypotheses have been suggested, there is no consensus on which mechanisms are involved. Our study evaluated indirect effects of benthivorous fish on the biogeochemical processes at the sediment–water interface separately from direct effects caused by nutrient excretion or sediment resuspension. 2. We assigned field enclosures to three treatments representing typical pond communities; without fish, addition of approximately 10 small tench or addition of one large bream. After one summer, we monitored the water chemistry, benthic invertebrates and periphyton in the enclosures and sampled sediment cores for laboratory analysis of biochemical process rates (oxygen, phosphorus and nitrogen exchange between sediment and water, and denitrification rate). 3. Fish had strong negative effects on benthic invertebrates, but weaker effects on periphyton, organic content and porosity of the sediment. Moreover, there were significant positive fish effects on both phosphorus and nitrogen concentrations in the water. However, there were no general treatment effects on sediment processes that could explain the treatment effects on water chemistry in the enclosures. 4. Hence, overall treatment effects attenuated along the chain of interactions. We conclude that the observed effect of benthic fish on water chemistry was probably because of direct effects on nutrient excretion or resuspension of sediment. The similarity between bream and tench treatments suggests large niche complementarity despite their different habitat preferences.  相似文献

The tench Tinca tinca is a freshwater species with human-mediated translocations, aquaculture interest and limited information on its genetic structure. mtDNA sequencing analysis of control region and two genes in 50 individuals from five European populations identified two phylogroups, with greater variability than that reported until now, and a hybridization zone in the Danube River region. Restriction analyses of additional samples reveal the complicated genetic structure characteristics of tench's wild and translocated populations, supporting future breeding practices.  相似文献

The caryophyllidean monozoic tapeworm Monobothrium wageneri is recorded for the first time in the U.K. in tench Tinca tinca from four different sites in S.E. England. The likelihood that this is an exotic import is discussed. It is considered that the weight of evidence indicates that it has been introduced into the U.K. probably in ornamental tench.  相似文献

The simple, high columnar gallbladder epithclia of the rainbow trout (Salmo gairdneri, Rich.) and the tench (Tinca linca, L.) are composed of light and dark cells. Within the dark cells two types must be distinguished: less hydrated, but normal epithelial cells and degenerating cells. The latter seem to be eliminated from the epithelium through phagocytosis by monocytes and macrophages, which possibly correspond with the ‘basal regenerative cells’ of earlier investigations. Since they are mainly found near the basement membrane, an hypothesis is put forth that they do not enter the gallbladder lumen, but migrate back into the subepithelial connective tissue after phagocytosis. Light and less hydrated dark cells are specialized for absorption of water and dissolved bile salts and for secretion of mucus, which mainly consists of acid glycoproteins. Interspecific differences are seen with regard to both functions. So, in the tench only single microvilli arc developed apically, whereas a true brush border is seen in the rainbow trout. Thus, a higher absorptive rate can be assumed in the rainbow trout. Or, with respect to mucus secretion, in the rainbow trout the granular endoplasmic reticulum predominates, whereas in the tench the smooth endoplasmic reticulum, often associated with glycogen and even forming ‘glycogen bodies’, is better developed. In the rainbow trout fibrillar granules of highly condensed acid glycoproteins are seen to be secreted. In the tench only vesicles of flocculent content occur. Perhaps, these morphological and subsequent metabolic differences may be related to the various feeding habits of the predatory rainbow trout and the omnivorous tench. Seasonal variations as expected especially in the tench after winter rest could not be established.  相似文献

The effects of introducing a zooplanktivorous fish, three-spined stickleback, (Gasterosteus aculeatus) and a benthivorous fish, tench (Tinca tinca) separately and in combination to replicated experimental enclosures with two density levels of white water lily (Nymphaea alba) were studied in Little Mere, UK. Numbers of Daphnia hyalina were high and only slightly diminished at reduced lily densities, probably due to stickleback predation, but there was no consequential effect on phytoplanktonic chlorophyll a concentrations. Tench reduced the numbers of gastropods but not of other macroinvertebrates, and in turn increased the biomass of periphyton growing on artificial substrata within the enclosures. The higher lily density reduced oxygen concentrations and pH values and increased total phosphorus and soluble reactive phosphorus concentrations but otherwise had little effect on water chemistry. There was little interactive effect of the fish species. The results are integrated with those of six other such enclosure experiments carried out in Little Mere since 1992.  相似文献
