The European diet today generally contains too much sodium (Na+). A partial substitution of NaCl by KCl has shown to be a promising method for reducing sodium content. The aim of this work was to investigate the sensorial changes of cooked ham with reduced sodium content. Traditional sensorial evaluation and objective multimodal machine vision were used. The salt content in the hams was decreased from 3.4% to 1.4%, and 25% of the Na+ was replaced by K+. The salt reduction had highest influence on the sensory attributes salty taste, after taste, tenderness, hardness and color hue. The multimodal machine vision system showed changes in lightness, as a function of reduced salt content. Compared to the reference ham (3.4% salt), a replacement of Na+-ions by K+-ions of 25% gave no significant changes in WHC, moisture, pH, expressed moisture, the sensory profile attributes or the surface lightness and shininess. A further reduction of salt down to 1.7–1.4% salt, led to a decrease in WHC and an increase in expressible moisture.  相似文献

Summary Accumulation of tubulin as compared with the accumulation of total cellular protein in human NHIK 3025 cells treated with the sulfone 2-(2-thenyl)sulfonyl-5-bromopyrimidine (NY 4137) and the sulfoxide 2-(2thenyl)sulfinyl-5-bromopyrimidine (NY 4138), two mitotic inhibitors, were investigated by two-parametric flow cytometry. Following a 4 h treatment with NY 4137 tubulin accumulation is inhibited while total protein continues to accumulate. After treatment for 4h with NY 4138 the accumulation of total protein is approximately constant, while the accumulation of tubulin is reduced although not to the same degree as that found for NY 4137-treated cells. In addition, the percentage tubulin SH-groups (6.89 ± 0.14) remaining after treatment of purified rat brain tubulin with NY 4137 or NY 4138 was determined. Treatment with 0.0125 mM NY 4137 reduced the number of tubulin SH-groups detectable with dithiobis benzoate or from 6.89 ± 0.14 before treatment to about 4 after treatment. However, practically all SH-groups of tubulin remain detectable following treatment with the same concentration of NY 4138. From the results described in this report we infer that NY 4137 binds to tubulin SH-groups and that inhibition of tubulin accumulation follows as a secondary effect.  相似文献

 The high polyploids Cerastium alpinum (8x) and C. nigrescens (12x) were investigated in a mixed population in central Norway to evaluate whether hybridisation has resulted in continuous variation in morphology and genetic markers, a hypothesis previously proposed to account for the extensive taxonomic confusion in this species group. Isozyme, fertility, and morphological (37 characters) variation were examined among 347, 265, and 237 plants, respectively. A PCO analysis based on 23 quantitative morphological characters identified two main groups, corresponding to C. alpinum and C. nigrescens. The groups were also clearly separated in isozyme markers, several qualitative morphological characters, and chromosome numbers. Only 20 plants (8.4%) were more or less intermediate in the PCO analysis. These plants had a parental or hybrid isozyme multilocus phenotype and typically few well-developed anthers, low pollen stainability, and no seed set. Several plants within the C. nigrescens group also had reduced pollen stainability. These results indicate that later-generation hybrids and/or backcrosses towards C. nigrescens are formed. Thus, interspecific, interploidal gene flow probably occurs, but at rates that are insufficient to break down species integrity. Received July 5, 2000 Accepted August 2, 2001  相似文献

Aims Studies of the climatic responses of plant assemblages via vegetation-based environmental reconstructions by weighted averaging (WA) regression and calibration are a recent development in modern vegetation ecology. However, the performance of this technique for plot-based vegetation datasets has not been rigorously tested. We assess the estimation accuracy of the WA approach by comparing results, mainly the root mean square error of prediction (RMSEP) of WA regressions for six different vegetation datasets (total species, high-frequency species and low-frequency species as both abundance and incidence) each from two sites.  相似文献

In the multi-use landscape of southern Norway, the distribution of lynx is likely to be determined both by the abundance of their favoured prey – the roe deer – and the risk associated with the presence of humans because most lynx mortalities are caused by humans (recreational harvest, poaching, vehicle collisions). We described the distribution of the reproductive portion of the lynx population based on snow-track observations of females with dependent kittens collected over 10  yr (1997–2006) in southern Norway. We used the ecological-niche factor analysis to examine how lynx distribution was influenced by roe deer, human activity, habitat type, environmental productivity and elevation. Our first prediction that lynx should be found in areas of relatively high roe deer abundance was supported. However, our second prediction that lynx should avoid human activity was rejected, and lynx instead occupied areas more disturbed in average than those available (with the exception of the most densely occupied areas). Lynx, however, avoided the most disturbed areas and our third prediction of a trade-off between abundance of prey and avoidance of human activity was supported. On the one hand, roe deer in the most disturbed areas benefit to a large extent from current human land use practices, potentially allowing them to escape predation from lynx. On the other hand, the situation is not so favourable for the predators who are restricted in competition refuges with medium to low prey densities. The consequence is that lynx conservation will have to be achieved in a human modifed environment where the potential for a range of conflicts and high human-caused mortality will remain a constant threat.  相似文献

We reinvestigated rearrangements occurring in region q13 of chromosome 11 aiming to: (i) describe heterogeneity of the observed structural alterations, (ii) estimate amplicon size and (iii) identify of oncogenes involved in laryngeal cancer progression as potential targets for therapy. The study included 17 cell lines derived from laryngeal cancers and 34 specimens from primary laryngeal tumors. The region 11q13 was analyzed by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), array comparative genomic hybridization (aCGH) and gene expression microarray. Next, quantitative real time PCR was used for chosen genes to confirm results from aCGH and gene expression microarray. The observed pattern of aberrations allows to distinguish three ways, in which gain and amplification involving 11q13 region may occur: formation of a homogeneously staining region; breakpoints in/near 11q13, which lead to the three to sevenfold increase of the copy number of 11q13 region; the presence of additional copies of the whole chromosome 11. The minimal altered region of gain and/or amplification was limited to ~1.8 Mb (chr.11:69,395,184–71,209,568) and comprised mostly 11q13.3 band which contain 12 genes. Five, out of these genes (CCND1, ORAOV1, FADD, PPFIA1, CTTN) had higher expression levels in comparison to healthy controls. Apart from CCND1 gene, which has an established role in pathogenesis of head and neck cancers, CTTN, ORAOV1 and FADD genes appear to be oncogene-candidates in laryngeal cancers, while a function of PPFIA1 requires further studies.  相似文献

The Hardangervidda in southern Norway, the largest mountain plateau in Europe, has thousands of lakes and streams, mainly between 1000 and 1300 m above sea level, where brown trout is the only fish species. To describe the current genetic diversity of brown trout in this area, a total of 863 fish from 20 lakes were genotyped with eleven microsatellites. Most diversity is within lake populations, but diversity among geographical groups and populations within groups was significant, too. Neighbor-joining, principle coordinate analysis and Bayesian clustering show three major geographic groups in accordance with the river systems. Bias was caused by recent stocking in two lakes. Low/no genetic differentiation among some populations indicates that intermixing is common when lakes are well-connected, as was also shown by assignment test. We recommend preserving the genetic diversity of brown trout in this unique area by managing stocking in lake systems according to genetic structure.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to provide data on the morphology of the gastrointestinal tract of Adélie penguins (Pygoscelis adeliae). It was found to consist of a long oesophagus, a two-chambered stomach, a small intestine measuring only 5.22body length, two rudimentary caeca and a short colon, typical of carnivorous birds. The stomach comprised a glandular proventriculus and a muscular gizzard that frequently contained grit. An acidic pH was recorded in both chambers. Ultrastructural studies of the small intestinal mucosal membrane revealed epithelial cells with elongated, irregular microvilli and high affinity for toluidine blue, absorptive intestinal epithelial cells and goblet cells. Numerous large lymphocyte-like cells were observed close to the brush border of the epithelium, and empty spaces on the epithelial surface reflected normal cell loss in the small intestine. The rudimentary caeca and colon provide relatively little volume and time for symbiotic bacteria to aid the digestion of crustacean chitin.  相似文献
