The extent and nature of cyclic electron delocalization in free and coordinated cyclopropenylidene carbenes has been analyzed by combined experimental and theoretical charge-density studies. The significant asymmetry of the C-C bond lengths in substituted cyclopropenylidene carbenes was identified as cooperative effect which depends on contributions of both σ- and π-bonding. We show that analyses of (i) the topology of the Laplacian of the electron density distribution and (ii) the out-of-plane atomic quadrupole moments - the charge-density analogues of pπ occupation - allow to distinguish between the influence of σ- and π-electrons on cyclic electron delocalization. These studies hint for pronounced electron localization in the carbene lone pair region which dominates the electronic structure of free cyclopropenylidene carbenes and hinders the establishment of true aromaticity. We further investigated the electron donating/withdrawing ability of cyclopropenylidene ligands relative to N-heterocyclic carbenes. The experimental benchmark systems LCr(CO)5 (L = 2,3-diphenylcyclopropenylidene and 1,2-dimethylimidazol-2-ylidene) show that the cyclopropenylidene ligand clearly displays the higher π-acceptor capability relative to N-heterocyclic carbenes.  相似文献

This article presents for the first time Scots pine tree-ring chronology created from historical timber (XVII–XIX cc.) from central Belarus. The chronology includes 59 tree-ring series which were collected from the different wood structures in the Nesvizh castle. This samples show different stages of the castle renovations. The chronology presented in this paper embraces 222 years covering the period between 1608 and 1829.  相似文献

The immune response is a concerted dynamic multi-cellular process. Upon infection, the dynamics of lymphocyte populations are an aggregate of molecular processes that determine the activation, division, and longevity of individual cells. The timing of these single-cell processes is remarkably widely distributed with some cells undergoing their third division while others undergo their first. High cell-to-cell variability and technical noise pose challenges for interpreting popular dye-dilution experiments objectively. It remains an unresolved challenge to avoid under- or over-interpretation of such data when phenotyping gene-targeted mouse models or patient samples. Here we develop and characterize a computational methodology to parameterize a cell population model in the context of noisy dye-dilution data. To enable objective interpretation of model fits, our method estimates fit sensitivity and redundancy by stochastically sampling the solution landscape, calculating parameter sensitivities, and clustering to determine the maximum-likelihood solution ranges. Our methodology accounts for both technical and biological variability by using a cell fluorescence model as an adaptor during population model fitting, resulting in improved fit accuracy without the need for ad hoc objective functions. We have incorporated our methodology into an integrated phenotyping tool, FlowMax, and used it to analyze B cells from two NFκB knockout mice with distinct phenotypes; we not only confirm previously published findings at a fraction of the expended effort and cost, but reveal a novel phenotype of nfkb1/p105/50 in limiting the proliferative capacity of B cells following B-cell receptor stimulation. In addition to complementing experimental work, FlowMax is suitable for high throughput analysis of dye dilution studies within clinical and pharmacological screens with objective and quantitative conclusions.  相似文献

The enhancement factor for surface plasmon–polaritons scattering by a thin dielectric grating was measured experimentally. Scattering of a p-polarized wave may be up to 30,000 times stronger than the non-resonant scattering of an s-polarized wave by the same grating. A detailed comparison between the theoretical calculations and experimental measurements was performed. Strong localization of the scattered field near the edges of diffraction grating grooves was found. Such localization is very promising for numerous applications, e.g., biological sensors, optical tweezers for catching particles, or viruses, etc.  相似文献

While wage labour and money have received much anthropological attention, the same cannot be said of wages themselves – actual banknotes and coins distributed in workforces. This article traces wages' social productivity among farm workers on the Zimbabwean‐South African border. In this migrant‐labour setting, money's form matters. Because currency objects are physically the same, it is difficult for workers to store them in an insecure environment, leading them to turn to one another. As they manage their earnings, workers attempt to establish themselves as social persons while maintaining future options in uncertain circumstances. Workforce ties both shape and are constituted by flows of cash and the rhythms and circuits of the wage. Seen in terms of form, wages are highly personal – the very stuff of sociality.  相似文献

The cardiotoxin (cytotoxin II, or CTII) isolated from cobra snake (Naja oxiana) venom is a 60-residue basic membrane-active protein featuring three-finger beta sheet fold. To assess possible modes of CTII/membrane interaction 31P- and 1H-NMR spectroscopy was used to study binding of the toxin and its effect onto multilamellar vesicles (MLV) composed of either zwitterionic or anionic phospholipid, dipalmitoylglycerophosphocholine (Pam2Gro-PCho) or dipalmitoylglycerophosphoglycerol (Pam2Gro-PGro), respectively. The analysis of 1H-NMR linewidths of the toxin and 31P-NMR spectral lineshapes of the phospholipid as a function of temperature, lipid-to-protein ratios, and pH values showed that at least three distinct modes of CTII interaction with membranes exist: (a) nonpenetrating mode; in the gel state of the negatively charged MLV the toxin is bound to the surface electrostatically; the binding to Pam2Gro-PCho membranes was not observed; (b) penetrating mode; hydrophobic interactions develop due to penetration of the toxin into Pam2Gro-PGro membranes in the liquid-crystalline state; it is presumed that in this mode CTII is located at the membrane/water interface deepening the side-chains of hydrophobic residues at the tips of the loops 1-3 down to the boundary between the glycerol and acyl regions of the bilayer; (c) the penetrating mode gives way to isotropic phase, stoichiometrically well-defined CTII/phospholipid complexes at CTII/lipid ratio exceeding a threshold value which was found to depend at physiological pH values upon ionization of the imidazole ring of His31. Biological implications of the observed modes of the toxin-membrane interactions are discussed.  相似文献
