1. 1. The objective of this paper is to investigate the indoor environment from the viewpoint of interaction between physical environment and the human responses. The field survey has been conducted over 1 year.
2. 2. A continuous measurement has been carried out for 1 week and distribution of variables have been measured for 1 day.
3. 3. The attitude of workers was investigated by a questionnaire.
4. 4. As the result, average luminance represented more than 1000 lx in the new building, in contrast with less tha 300 lx in the existing building.
5. 5. There was a significant difference of the occupants' response to the light environment between the two buildings.
6. 6. Measured thermal conditions are on the edge of the ASHRAE comfort envelope in summer, and in the neighborhood of the lower dry limit of the envelope in spring.
7. 7. The occupants' evaluations were remarkably changed before and after the moving. The office environment is better than that of the factory.
Five new eudesmane- (1–5), two new guaiane- (6 and 7) and one new germacrane-type (8) sesquiterpene lactone glucosides were isolated from the H2O-soluble fraction of the roots of Ferula varia. Their structures were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic analyses. The absolute configuration of 1 was determined by modified Mosher's method. 相似文献
In humans, emaciation from long-term dietary deficiencies, such as anorexia, reportedly increases physical activity and brain atrophy. However, the effects of single short-term fasting on brain tissue or behavioral activity patterns remain unclear. To clarify the impact of malnutrition on brain function, we conducted a single short-term fasting study as an anorexia model using male adult mice and determined if changes occurred in migratory behavior as an expression of brain function and in brain tissue structure. Sixteen-week-old C57BL/6J male mice were divided into either the fasted group or the control group. Experiments were conducted in a fixed indoor environment. We examined the effects of fasting on the number of nerve cells, structural changes in the myelin and axon density, and brain atrophy. For behavior observation, the amount of food and water consumed, ingestion time, and the pattern of movement were measured using a time-recording system. The fasted mice showed a significant increase in physical activity and their rhythm of movement was disturbed. Since the brain was in an abnormal state after fasting, mice that were normally active during the night became active regardless of day or night and performed strenuous exercise at a high frequency. The brain weight did not change by a fast, and brain atrophy was not observed. Although no textural change was apparent by fasting, the neuronal neogenesis in the subventricular zone and hippocampus was inhibited, causing disorder of the brain function. A clear association between the suppression of encephalic neuropoiesis and overactivity was not established. However, it is interesting that the results of this study suggest that single short-term fasting has an effect on encephalic neuropoiesis. 相似文献
A new cottid species, Icelus sekii, is described on the basis of six specimens collected from off Rausu and Urakawa, Hokkaido Island, Japan. This species is
distinguished from its congeners by the following combination of characters: supraocular and parietal spines absent; nuchal
spine obscure; uppermost preopercular spine unbranched; no scales between dorsal scale row and lateral line scale row, and
no scales below lateral line scale row; supraocular, parietal, and nuchal cirri present; five dark brown saddles dorsolaterally;
anal fin rays 13; pectoral fin rays 15; vertebrae 12 + 24–25 = 36–37. Icelus sekii can be mature at the smallest size among the species of Icelus. As a secondary sexual character, the male holotype has unique ensiform flaps on the distal tips of the first dorsal fin. 相似文献
Several chemotherapeutic drugs have immune-modulating effects. For example, cyclophosphamide (CP) and gemcitabine (GEM) diminish immunosuppression by regulatory T cells (Tregs) and myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs), respectively. Here, we show that intermittent (metronomic) chemotherapy with low-dose CP plus GEM can induce anti-tumor T cell immunity in CT26 colon carcinoma-bearing mice. Although no significant growth suppression was observed by injections of CP (100 mg/kg) at 8-day intervals or those of CP (50 mg/kg) at 4-day intervals, CP injection (100 mg/kg) increased the frequency of tumor peptide-specific T lymphocytes in draining lymph nodes, which was abolished by two injections of CP (50 mg/kg) at a 4-day interval. Alternatively, injection of GEM (50 mg/kg) was superior to that of GEM (100 mg/kg) in suppressing tumor growth in vivo, despite the smaller dose. When CT26-bearing mice were treated with low-dose (50 mg/kg) CP plus (50 mg/kg) GEM at 8-day intervals, tumor growth was suppressed without impairing T cell function; the effect was mainly T cell dependent. The metronomic combination chemotherapy cured one-third of CT26-bearing mice that acquired tumor-specific T cell immunity. The combination therapy decreased Foxp3 and arginase-1 mRNA levels but increased IFN-γ mRNA expression in tumor tissues. The percentages of tumor-infiltrating CD45+ cells, especially Gr-1high CD11b+ MDSCs, were decreased. These results indicate that metronomic chemotherapy with low-dose CP plus GEM is a promising protocol to mitigate totally Treg- and MDSC-mediated immunosuppression and elicit anti-tumor T cell immunity in vivo. 相似文献
The cellular effects of eleven compounds including chalcone glycosides isolated from Brassica rapa L. ‘hidabeni’ and their synthetic derivatives were studied in rat pheochromocytoma PC12 cells. Of the compounds tested, 4′-O-β-d-glucopyranosyl-3′,4-dimethoxychalcone (A2) significantly increased the levels of the phosphorylated forms of extracellular signal-regulated kinases 1/2 (ERK 1/2), p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38MAPK), and stress-activated protein kinases/Jun amino-terminal kinases (JNK/SAPK), but it did not affect Akt. Nerve growth factor (NGF), a well-known neurotrophic factor, increased the levels of phosphorylated ERK1/2, JNK/SAPK, and Akt but not p38MAPK, which may mediate marked neurite outgrowth. Signals evoked by A2 shared common characteristics with those induced by NGF; therefore, we evaluated the neuritogenic activity of A2 and found it induced only weak neurite outgrowth. However, this effect was enhanced by pre-treatment with a p38MAPK inhibitor, suggesting that the phosphorylation of p38MAPK down-regulated neurite outgrowth. From the results of this study, it was found that A2 in combination with a p38MAPK inhibitor can induce NGF-like effects. Hence, a combination of chalcone glycosides containing A2 and a p38MAPK inhibitor increases the likelihood that chalcone glycosides could be put to practical use in the form of drugs or alternative medicines to maintain neural health. 相似文献
