For the first time ever, the International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List Index for habitat types was calculated for an entire country, Finland. The RLIs were based on species threat assessments from 2000 and 2010 and included habitat definitions for all 10,131 species of 12 organism groups. The RLIs were bootstrapped to track statistically significant changes. The RLI changes of species grouped by habitats were negative for all habitat types except for forests and rural biotopes which showed a stable trend. Trends of beetles and true bugs were positive in rural and forest habitats. Other 16 observed trends of species group and habitat combinations were negative. Several trends observed were in accordance with studies focusing on particular taxa and habitats, and drivers for their change. This study demonstrates the usefulness of the RLI as a tool for observing habitat change based on species threat assessment data. 相似文献

The basement membranes of developing Leydig cells in fetal and newborn testis of rat were studied by ultrastructural and immunocytochemical methods. Fetal-type Leydig cells in prenatal rats were organized in irregularly outlined groups in the interstitium and were extensively surrounded by ultrastructurally identifiable basement membranes and immunocytochemically localized laminin and collagen type IV. Prenatal Leydig cell precursors had small patches of laminin and collagen type IV on their surfaces, which indicated that changes in extracellular matrix took place during their differentiation to mature fetal-type Leydig cells. Additionally, ultrastructural evidence was obtained for a basement membrane surrounding the fetal human Leydig cells similar to that in fetal rats. Soon after birth the rat fetal-type cells gathered into distinct clusters surrounded by delicate envelope cells and a discontinuous basement membrane. Basement-membrane structures, laminin, and collagen type IV were observed between the clustered cells as well. The basement membranes covering large cell surface areas of the fetal-type Leydig cells in fetal and newborn rats differed from those of the adult-type cells, which, according to our earlier study, are covered only by small patches of basement membrane. The difference between the basement membranes of the fetal- and adult-type rat Leydig cells further supports the concept of two different Leydig cell populations. The earlier findings of the epithelial nature of the Leydig cells agree with the observation of basement membranes in the Leydig cells. 相似文献

Changes in the content of lysophosphoglycerides in a crude plasmalemmal fraction of canine heart during short-term ischemia (occlusion of the left descending coronary artery for 8 min) have been studied in the presence and in the absence of phosphocreatine and phosphocreatinine. In the control experiments without PCr or PCr-nine ischemia caused significant elevation of the content of LPG: that of lysophosphatidylcholine was increased by 83% and that of lysophosphatidylethanolamine by 168%. Intravenous administration of PCr and PCr-nine in doses of 300 mg/kg completely prevented accumulation of LPG in the ischemic zone. Because of the well-known arrhythmogenic properties of LPG, the inhibitory effect of PCr and PCr-nine on the elevation of their concentration in the ischemic zone may be closely related to the antiarrhythmic action of PCr and PCr-nine in acute myocardial ischemia. 相似文献

In isolated and purified cardiac myofibrillar and sarcolemmal preparations, the route of movement of ADP produced in the Mg2+-ATPase reactions was studied by investigating the efficiency of competition between the endogenous creatine kinase and exogenous pyruvate kinase reactions. In the homogeneous control system composed of hexokinase and glucose as ATPase, soluble creatine kinase rapidly rephosphorylated ADP produced in the presence of 1 mM ATP, but the addition of pyruvate kinase in an increasing amount inhibited the reaction of creatine release from phosphocreatine and symmetrically increased the rate of pyruvate production from phosphoenol pyruvate. At a pyruvate-kinase/creatine-kinase activity ratio (PK/CK) of 50, all ADP was used by the pyruvate kinase. In myofibrillar and sarcolemmal preparations containing particulate creatine kinase, the creatine kinase reaction was much less efficiently suppressed by pyruvate kinase, and at PK/CK = 50 half-maximal release of creatine was still observed. The rate of immediate myofibrillar MgADP rephosphorylation in the endogenous creatine-kinase reaction was observed to be governed by the concentration of phosphocreatine in accordance with the kinetics of this enzyme. Abstract. The development and sexual differentiation of gonads in female rat embryos and fetuses between the ages of 11 and 17 days was studied by immunocytochemical analysis of intermediate filament proteins and laminin by light and electron microscopy. In the 11-day-old pregonadal embryo, the surface epithelial cells in the ventral cortex of the mesonephros contained desmin but not cytokeratin or vimentin. The development of the gonad began on the following day by proliferative growth of the mesonephric surface cells, which like the subepithelial cells soon expressed vimentin in addition to desmin. The differentiation continued by formation of separate epithelial cell clusters, which joined into cords, irregular in shape and size. Desmin disappeared from the cord cells and cytokeratins appeared while vimentin remained in all somatic cell types. Desmin was especially abundant in some stromal cells adjacent to the epithelial tissues. After the segration of the basic ovarian tissues, vimentin and desmin decreased and cytokeratins appeared in the surface epithelial cells. New changes in cytokeratin expression appeared with the differentiation of the embryonic cords in a sex-specific manner with gradual decrease of reactivity for cytokeratin 18. No immunoreaction to the neurofilament proteins was found at the present ages, and the germ cells were negative for intermediate filaments. The results show that desmin is expressed in several primitive ovarian and mesonephric cells even though they are not myogenic. The sexual differences emerge after the incipient formation of the genetically female gonad, as different organization of the internal epithelial tissue with different timing of changes in intermediate filament proteins when compared with the male gonad. 相似文献

A complete kinetic analysis of the forward mitochondrial creatine kinase reaction was conducted to define the mechanism for its rate enhancement when coupled to oxidative phosphorylation. Two experimental systems were employed. In the first, ATP was produced by oxidative phosphorylation. In the second, heart mitochondria were pretreated with rotenone and oligomycin, and ATP was regenerated by a phosphoenolpyruvate-pyruvate kinase system. Product inhibition studies showed that oxidative phosphorylation did not effect the binding of creatine phosphate to the enzyme. Creatine phosphate interacted competitively with both ATP and creatine, and the E · MgATP · CrP dead-end complex was not readily detected. In a similar manner, the dissociation constants for creatine were not influenced by the source of ATP: Kib = 29 mm; Kb = 5.3 mM, and the maximum velocity of the reaction was unchanged: V1 = 1 μmol/ min/mg. Slight differences were noted for the dissociation constant (Kia) of MgATP from the binary enzyme complex, E · MgATP. The values were 0.75 and 0.29 mm in the absence and presence of respiration. However, a 10-fold decrease in the steady-state dissociation constant (Ka) of MgATP from the ternary complex, E · MgATP · creatine, was documented: 0.15 mm with exogenous ATP and 0.014 mm with oxidative phosphorylation. Since Kia × Kb does not equal Ka × Kib under respiring conditions, the enzyme appears to be altered from its normal rapid-equilibrium random binding kinetics to some other mechanism by its coupling to oxidative phosphorylation. 相似文献
