A new tribe,Deppeeae, in subfamily Rubioideae Verdc. of the Neotropical Rubiaceae is described. It is easily distinguished by the presence of raphides, contorted or modified alternative aestivation of the corolla, numerous small ovules, and placenta attached to the middle of the septum. Three genera are known to be members of the tribe,Deppea, Schenckia, andOmiltemia. A hypothetical phylogenetic tree for the tribe is presented. 相似文献

Of 1,564 serum samples from adult ewes from 33 farms in Iowa, Minnesota, South Dakota, Kansas, and Nebraska where toxoplasmosis-induced ovine abortions had been diagnosed, 65.5% were found positive for Toxoplasma gondii antibodies using the modified agglutination test. Toxoplasma gondii antibody titers of ewes were: less than 64 (34.5%), 64 (14.9%), 256 (22.0%), 1,024 (14.5%), and greater than 4,096 (13.8%). Thus, 28.3% of sheep had high titers (greater than 1,024) indicating recently acquired T. gondii infection. On certain farms, up to 95% of ewes were seropositive. Prevalence of T. gondii antibodies increased with age of the ewe. Of 665 ewes, 53.6% of 1-yr-old ewes were seropositive (titers greater than 64) versus 75% of 5-yr-old ewes. Results indicate that T. gondii infection in sheep in the United States is widespread. 相似文献

The tribe Isertieae is here delimited by the following characters: absence of rhaphides, valvate aestivation of the corolla, cordiform or discoid placenta, fleshy indehiscent fruit, and seed coat cells with pitted walls. Phosphorylation of endogenous inhibitor proteins for type-1 Ser/Thr phosphatase (PP1) provides a mechanism for reciprocal coordination of kinase and phosphatase activities. A myosin phosphatase inhibitor protein CPI-17 is phosphorylated at Thr38 through G-protein-mediated signals, resulting in a >1000-fold increase in inhibitory potency. We show here the solution NMR structure of phospho-T38-CPI-17 with rmsd of 0.36 +/- 0.06 A for the backbone secondary structure, which reveals how phosphorylation triggers a conformational change and exposes an inhibitory surface. This active conformation is stabilized by the formation of a hydrophobic core of intercalated side chains, which is not formed in a phospho-mimetic D38 form of CPI-17. Thus, the profound increase in potency of CPI-17 arises from phosphorylation, conformational change, and hydrophobic stabilization of a rigid structure that poses the phosphorylated residue on the protein surface and restricts its hydrolysis by myosin phosphatase.
