Vitamin D binding protein ( GC ) and serum protease inhibitor ( PI ) have been added to genetic markers in the Japanese quail. Both loci were controlled by autosomal codominant alleles named GCA, GCB and PIA, PIB, PIC, respectively. Close linkage between the loci for serum albumin ( ALB ) and GC protein is reported. Two recombinants were observed in 145 informative offspring of 14 families. The recombination frequency between the loci was estimated as 0.014±0.006. Thus, GC was assigned to linkage group II in the Japanese quail. No signs of linkage were observed among the loci for the ALB-GC complex, PI. serum prealbumin 2 ( PA2 ), phosphoglucose isomerase ( PG1 ), 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase ( PGD ) and esterase-D ( ESD ).  相似文献

We have cloned a transient type K channel from rat heart (RH10) and coexpressed a metabotropic glutamate receptor (mGluR5) to study the functional modulation of RH10 coupled to the phosphatidylinositol (PI) hydrolysis. Stimulation of mGluR5 suppressed peak amplitude of RH10 current and affected voltage dependence of activation and inactivation of the channel.  相似文献

The oxygen cost of transport per unit distance (CoT; mL·kg-1·km-1) shows a U-shaped curve as a function of walking speed (v), which includes a particular walking speed minimizing the CoT, so called economical speed (ES). The CoT-v relationship in running is approximately linear. These distinctive walking and running CoT-v relationships give an intersection between U-shaped and linear CoT relationships, termed the energetically optimal transition speed (EOTS). This study investigated the effects of subtracting the standing oxygen cost for calculating the CoT and its relevant effects on the ES and EOTS at the level and gradient slopes (±5%) in eleven male trained athletes. The percent effects of subtracting the standing oxygen cost (4.8 ± 0.4 mL·kg-1·min-1) on the CoT were significantly greater as the walking speed was slower, but it was not significant at faster running speeds over 9.4 km·h-1. The percent effect was significantly dependent on the gradient (downhill > level > uphill, P < 0.001). The net ES (level 4.09 ± 0.31, uphill 4.22 ± 0.37, and downhill 4.16 ± 0.44 km·h-1) was approximately 20% slower than the gross ES (level 5.15 ± 0.18, uphill 5.27 ± 0.20, and downhill 5.37 ± 0.22 km·h-1, P < 0.001). Both net and gross ES were not significantly dependent on the gradient. In contrast, the gross EOTS was slower than the net EOTS at the level (7.49 ± 0.32 vs. 7.63 ± 0.36 km·h-1, P = 0.003) and downhill gradients (7.78 ± 0.33 vs. 8.01 ± 0.41 km·h-1, P < 0.001), but not at the uphill gradient (7.55 ± 0.37 vs. 7.63 ± 0.51 km·h-1, P = 0.080). Note that those percent differences were less than 2.9%. Given these results, a subtraction of the standing oxygen cost should be carefully considered depending on the purpose of each study.  相似文献

The yellow-legged hornet, Vespa velutina nigrithorax (Hymenoptera: Vespidae), invaded South Korea in 2003 through Busan metropolitan city, which is located in the southeast region of the country. Previous studies aiming to trace the origin of V. velutina in Korea used a portion of mitochondrial (mt) COI and detected a single haplotype common to the site of origin. However, no subsequent study on invasive dynamics such as additional entry and/or another site of entry has been performed. In this study, segments of mt COI, CytB, and lrRNA were sequenced from 238 individuals collected in 11 Korean and two Japanese localities, but no variation in each gene was observed. Thus, we developed two intergenic spacer (IGS) sequences from the publicly available mt genome of V. velutina, which provided substantially increased variability (i.e., 19 haplotypes with 1.74% maximum sequence divergence in 1,129–1,146-bp-long concatenated sequences). Population genetic analyses using the concatenated sequences unexpectedly provided higher genetic diversity estimates in the northwest and southwest regions, both of which also harbor international cargo ports, than in the southeast region, in which Busan is located. Furthermore, this genetic result was roughly concordant with our questionnaire survey demonstrating that V. velutina was observed in apiaries located in the northwest and southwest regions up to 2012, when there was no reported prevalent distribution of the hornet beyond the southeast region. These results collectively suggest that the northwest and southwest regions of Korea are additional sites of V. velutina entry to the country, independent from the southeast region origin.  相似文献

Microglossia is a congenital birth defect in humans and adversely impacts quality of life. In vertebrates, tongue muscle derives from the cranial mesoderm, whereas tendons and connective tissues in the craniofacial region originate from cranial neural crest (CNC) cells. Loss of transforming growth factor β (TGFβ) type II receptor in CNC cells in mice (Tgfbr2fl/fl;Wnt1-Cre) causes microglossia due to a failure of cell-cell communication between cranial mesoderm and CNC cells during tongue development. However, it is still unclear how TGFβ signaling in CNC cells regulates the fate of mesoderm-derived myoblasts during tongue development. Here we show that activation of the cytoplasmic and nuclear tyrosine kinase 1 (ABL1) cascade in Tgfbr2fl/fl;Wnt1-Cre mice results in a failure of CNC-derived cell differentiation followed by a disruption of TGFβ-mediated induction of growth factors and reduction of myogenic cell proliferation and differentiation activities. Among the affected growth factors, the addition of fibroblast growth factor 4 (FGF4) and neutralizing antibody for follistatin (FST; an antagonist of bone morphogenetic protein (BMP)) could most efficiently restore cell proliferation, differentiation, and organization of muscle cells in the tongue of Tgfbr2fl/fl;Wnt1-Cre mice. Thus, our data indicate that CNC-derived fibroblasts regulate the fate of mesoderm-derived myoblasts through TGFβ-mediated regulation of FGF and BMP signaling during tongue development.  相似文献

Phytochrome was isolated and purified from light-grown pea (Pisumsativum) seedlings and compared with that from dark-grown seedlingsin terms of spectral and immunochemical properties. Approximately40% of phytochrome in the brushite eluate prepared from light-grownpea tissue bound with a monoclonal anti-pea phytochrome antibody(mAP3), but the remaining 60% did not. Both phytochrome fractionsshowed a typical photoreversible absorbance change after alternatered and far-red actinic irradiations, which was similar to thatof phytochrome from etiolated pea tissue. The peptide mappingof the mAP3-bound phytochrome from light-grown tissue was essentiallythe same as that of the mAP3-bound phytochrome from etiolatedtissue. However, the digestion pattern of the phytochrome thatwas prepared from light-grown tissue but which did not bindto mAP3 was obviously different from that of mAP3-bound phytochrome.Polyclonal anti-pea phytochrome antibodies and mAP5 and 10,however, bound to both the phytochromes. Using 3H-TdR pulse labelling, the cell kinetics of four, serially transplantable, human tumors were studied in athymic nude mice. Squamous cell carcinoma of the lung, tongue and esophagus showed relatively similar cell kinetic parameters. The growth of an oat-cell carcinoma was initially very slow in mice and its growth fraction was unexpectedly small with a relatively low labelling index. Its postmitotic phase was very short. It was concluded that the nude mice/human tumor system may be useful for cell kinetic studies of human tumors from the standpoint of tumor biology and therapy.  相似文献

Summary Tracheobronchial epithelium, thyroid organ, thymus, of the developing rats were examined by immunohistochemistry using anti-spot 35 calbindin-antiserum. At E 14, weak to moderate immunoreactivity for spot 35-calbindin was detected in the airway epithelia of the distal half of the trachea and the extrapulmonary bronchus. The immunoreactive cells increased in intensity at E 16–E 21, but decreased markedly after birth. These cells were non-ciliated cells and comprised a majority of the epithelial cells especially in the ventral/cartilaginous portion of the airway. They were characterized by microvilli, vacuoles, granular and agranular endoplasmic reticulum. Typical ciliated cells, which were much less numerous than the immunopositive non-ciliated cells, were immunonegative. In thyroid gland, calbindin-immunoreactive cells first appeared at E 18. They increased in number at E 20-P 1 and decreased gradually after P 7. These cells were the parafollicular cells characterized by numerous secretory granules and situated in close proximity to the basal surface of the follicular cells. In the thymus, immunoreactive cells appeared in the thymic medulla at E 20. They increased in number at P 1, but decreased gradually after P 7. They were stellate in shape and had vesicles, vacuoles, intermediate filaments and represented a subpopulation of thymic reticular epithelial cells. Such a transient appearance of spot 35-calbindin in these cells suggests that this protein may be involved in the regulation of differentiation or may be involved in the process of secretion during the limited developmental period.  相似文献
