Utilizing intersimple sequence repeat (ISSR) markers, 18 mulberry (Morus spp.) germplasm collections were studied for genetic variability, phylogenetic relationship, and association with protein
and sugar content. The genetic polymorphism exhibited by ISSR primers was 100%, and the genetic diversity recorded among the
mulberry accessions had an average of 0.263 ± 0.094. Dendrogram (unweighted pair group method analysis) clustered the mulberry
accessions into two major groups, one comprised the accessions collected from north or northeast regions of India, and the
other comprised three subclusters and one isolate, i.e., Assamjati, a collection from Assam. Another subcluster contained
accessions collected from Kerala, which belong to Morus indica. These accessions of M. indica from Kerala were found to be genetically diverse from north and northeast India. Multidimensional scaling of the ISSR data
clearly separated the mulberry accessions according to their genetic diversity and protein content. Mulberry accessions were
arbitrarily grouped into three classes viz. very low, moderate, and high in terms of protein and sugar content using standard
statistical programs. Stepwise multiple regression analysis identified four ISSR markers (8351,600, 8355,600, 8222,500, and 8072,500) associated with protein content with highly positive correlation (p < 0.001) with linear curves with high F values (18.055 to 48.674; p < 0.001). In case of sugar content, four ISSR markers viz. 812900, 8171,500, 8261,500, and 8108,000 showed negative correlation. Hence, DNA markers for proteins seem promising and may be used in marker-assisted breeding program. 相似文献

Ancylostoma ceylanicum, the hookworm parasite of cat, dog and man, was found to contain NADH and/or NADPH oxidase as well as fumarate reductase activities. Both the enzyme systems were predominantly located in the membranes of mitochondrial-rich preparations. The membranes also exhibited the presence of a reduced pyridine nucleotide transhydrogenase activity which transferred hydrogen from NADPH to NAD. Synthesis of a library of novel trans 6-methoxy-1,1-dimethyl-2-phenyl-3-aryl-2,3-dihydro-1H-inden-4-yloxy alkyl amines and their antimycobacterial activity against drug sensitive and multidrug resistant strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis have been reported. All the new compounds in the series exhibited MIC between 1.56 and 6.25 μg/ml. Two compounds 1i and 1j with low MIC and low cytotoxicity showed significant reduction in CFU in infected mouse macrophages at 1× MIC concentration. The compound 1i inhibited the growth of M. tuberculosis in mice at 100 mg/kg dose with 1.35 log10 reduction of CFU in lungs tissue and was active against non-replicating Mycobacterium tuberculosis under anaerobic condition. 相似文献

Almost all primates experience seasonal fluctuations in the availability of key food sources. However, the degree to which this fluctuation impacts foraging behavior varies considerably. Eastern chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes schweinfurthii) in Nyungwe National Park, Rwanda, live in a montane forest environment characterized by lower primary productivity and resource diversity than low‐elevation forests. Little is known about chimpanzee feeding ecology in montane forests, and research to date predominantly relies on indirect methods such as fecal analyses. This study is the first to use mostly observational data to examine how seasonal food availability impacts the feeding ecology of montane forest chimpanzees. We examine seasonal changes in chimpanzee diet and fallback foods (FBFs) using instantaneous scan samples and fecal analyses, supported by inspection of feeding remains. Chimpanzee fruit abundance peaked during the major dry season, with a consequent change in chimpanzee diet reflecting the abundance and diversity of key fruit species. Terrestrial herbaceous vegetation was consumed throughout the year and is defined as a “filler” FBF. In contrast to studies conducted in lower‐elevation chimpanzee sites, figs (especially Ficus lutea) were preferred resources, flowers were consumed at seasonally high rates and the proportion of non‐fig fruits in the diet were relatively low in the current study. These divergences likely result from the comparatively low environmental diversity and productivity in higher‐elevation environments. 相似文献
