The laminated structure of the optic tectum is formed by radial and tangential cell migration during development. Studies of developing chick optic tectum have revealed two streams of tangential cell migration in the middle and superficial layers, which have distinctive origins, migratory paths, modes of migration, and destinations. We will review the process of the two types of tangential migrations, in order to elucidate their roles in the formation of the optic tectum layers.  相似文献

The effects of Ca2+ in the external medium on intact mung beanroots under high NaCl stress were investigated. With increasingexternal concentrations of NaCl, mung bean roots showed suppressionof elongation and a decrease in the intracellular concentrationof K+. Addition of Ca2+ to the external medium alleviated theinhibition of root elongation under the high NaCl stress andmaintained a high intracellular concentration of K+ in the elongatingregion of the roots. This counter effect of Ca2+ against theNaCl stress on roots was correlated with the ratio of [Ca2+]/[Na+]2in the external medium. A value above 5.0 ? 10–4 mM–1resulted in almost complete recovery of root elongation undervarious high concentrations of NaCl. Root elongation for 24h under NaCl stress was correlated with the extent to whichthe intracellular concentration of K+ was in excess of 10 mM.Maintenance of an adequate concentration of K+ in root cellsis essential for root elongation under salt stress. These findingsindicate that Ca2+ prevents the leakage of intracellular K+and thereby supports the elongation of roots under salt stress. (Received November 13, 1989; Accepted June 5, 1990)  相似文献

On modification of arginine residues with 2,3-butanedione, the Thermus caldophilus L-lactate dehydrogenase is converted to an activated form that is independent of an allosteric effector, fructose 1,6-bisphosphate (Fru-1,6-P2). The conformation of NAD+ bound to the modified enzyme in the absence of Fru-1,6-P2 was investigated by means of proton NMR, analyzing the time dependence of the transferred nuclear Overhauser effect (TRNOE) and TRNOE action spectra. The inter-proton distances determined on TRNOE analysis indicated that both the nicotinamide riboside moiety and the adenosine moiety of NAD+ were in the anti conformation, the ribose rings being in the C3'-endo form. This conformation was almost the same as that of NAD+ bound to the native enzyme-Fru-1,6-P2 complex, rather than that of NAD+ bound to the free native enzyme. These results suggest that the C3'-endo-anti form of the enzyme-bound NAD+ is essential for the activation of the T. caldophilus L-lactate dehydrogenase.  相似文献

Water-insoluble compounds can be substrates for enzymatic reactions when lipases are immobilized properly and suitable organic solvents are used. In this review, three type of lipase immobilization method and their application to the asymmetric syntheses of complex molecules are described. Lipases immobilized with Celite or synthetic prepolymers such as urethane prepolymer and photo-crosslinkable resin prepolymer have been applied for the kinetic resolution of many kinds of water-insoluble substrate.

Phospholipid-lipase aggregates with ether linkages are novel and have been found to function effectively as immobilized lipases in asymmetric hydrolysis or esterification reactions in water-saturated organic solvent. The phospholipid-lipase aggregates are considered to have a stacked bilayer based on X-ray diffraction analysis structure of the lipid in the crystalline phase.  相似文献

Full length cDNA clones of flavonoid 3',5'-hydroxylase, dihydroflavonol4-reductase and flavonoid 3-glucosyltransferase were clonedfrom petals of Gentiana triflora. Their sequences were homologousto counterparts from other plants. Due to the ubiquity of epoxy resin compounds and their potential role in increasing the risk for reproductive dysfunction and cancer, the need for an assessment of human exposure is urgent. Therefore, we developed a method for measuring bisphenol A (BPA) and bisphenol A diglycidyl ether (BADGE) metabolites in human blood samples using high-performance liquid chromatography–electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (LC–MS). Human blood samples were processed using enzymatic deconjugation of the glucuronides followed by a novel sample preparation procedure using a solid-phase-cartridge column. This selective analytical method permits rapid detection of the metabolites, free BPA and a hydrolysis product of BADGE (BADGE-4OH) with detection limits in the low nanogram per milliliter range (0.1 ng ml−1 of BPA and 0.5 ng ml−1 of BADGE-4OH). The sample extraction was achieved by Oasis HLB column on gradient elution. The recoveries of BPA and BADGE-4OH added to human plasma samples were above 70.0% with a standard deviation of less than 5.0%. This selective, sensitive and accurate method will assist in elucidating potential associations between human exposure to epoxy-based compounds and adverse health effects.  相似文献

Cultures of synchronized Streptococcus pneumoniae cells were prepared by amino acid starvation followed by refeeding, and the cellular reactivity towards the competence-activator for genetic transformation, i.e., competence induction on the addition of the activator, was investigated. Cyclical fluctuation in the level of competence was observed during the cell cycle. Especially, cells at division showed reduced cellular ability to develop competence. It was also observed that deprivation of nutritionally required amino acids had quite diiferent effects on the induction of competence, depending upon the amino acid removed: glutamine or serine starvation caused a significant reduction in the level of competence induced by the activator, whereas deprivation of other amino acids (histidine, leucine, isoleucine, valine, arginine and cysteine) did not.  相似文献
