A series of novel compounds 6-amino-1-((1,3-diphenyl-1H-pyrazole-4-yl)methyleneamino)-4-(aryl)-2-oxo-1,2-dihydropyridine-3,5-dicarbonitriles (4at) were synthesized and characterized by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and mass spectral data. These compounds were screened for their in vitro antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes (Gram positive), Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Gram negative) by serial broth dilution and cytotoxic activity (NIH 3T3 & HeLa) by MTT assay. The results indicated that compounds 4g, 4i, 4m, 4o, 4r and 4t exhibit potent antibacterial activity against bacterial strains at non-cytotoxic concentrations.  相似文献

The uptake of oestradiol by human breast-tumour tissue estimated by in-vivo and in-vitro techniques has been examined in relation to patients'' ages and menopausal status. Results from in-vivo studies showed no convincing correlations, while in-vitro results were significantly correlated with menopausal status. Converting lignocellulosics into biofuels remains a promising route for biofuel production. To facilitate strain development for specificity and productivity of cellulosic biofuel production, a user friendly Escherichia coli host was engineered to produce isobutanol, a drop-in biofuel candidate, from cellobiose. A beta-glucosidase was expressed extracellularly by either excretion into the media, or anchoring to the cell membrane. The excretion system allowed for E. coli to grow with cellobiose as a sole carbon source at rates comparable to those with glucose. The system was then combined with isobutanol production genes in three different configurations to determine whether gene arrangement affected isobutanol production. The most productive strain converted cellobiose to isobutanol in titers of 7.64?±?0.19 g/L with a productivity of 0.16 g/L/h. These results demonstrate that efficient cellobiose degradation and isobutanol production can be achieved by a single organism, and provide insight for optimization of strains for future use in a consolidated bioprocessing system for renewable production of isobutanol.  相似文献

A palaeocommunity of large Conichnus conicus, a conical, cone-in-cone shaped burrow, created by sea anemones, occurs in medium-grained, crossbedded, well-sorted sandstone in the middle part of the Cretaceous Guneri Member of the Bhuj Formation in India. The trace fossil Conichnus is considered to be a common element of the Skolithos ichnofacies and is interpreted to reflect equilibrium movement in response to substrate aggradation. In the present study, three different varieties of Conichnus conicus are distinguished based on morphology and internal fabric. Community dynamics and burrowing behavior are revealed by inter-burrow relationships, burrow initiation levels and sedimentology. Three types of behavior are envisaged: retrusive equilibrium, protrusive equilibrium response, and escape behavior. Palaeocommunity dynamics show that the tracemakers consisted of only adult organisms that initiated burrows during neap tides and are adapted to feed effectively during weak flow conditions. The occurrence of Conichnus palaeocommunity in the Guneri Member indicates the tidal conditions in a fully marine setting. Results presented herein may aid in the understanding of palaeocommunity dynamics in other shallow marine sequences.  相似文献

Medical educators and patients are turning to YouTube to teach and learn about medical conditions. These videos are from authors whose credibility cannot be verified & are not peer reviewed. As a result, studies that have analyzed the educational content of YouTube have reported dismal results. These studies have been unable to exclude videos created by questionable sources and for non-educational purposes. We hypothesize that medical education YouTube videos, authored by credible sources, are of high educational value and appropriately suited to educate the public. Credible videos about cardiovascular diseases were identified using the Mayo Clinic''s Center for Social Media Health network. Content in each video was assessed by the presence/absence of 7 factors. Each video was also evaluated for understandability using the Suitability Assessment of Materials (SAM). User engagement measurements were obtained for each video. A total of 607 videos (35 hours) were analyzed. Half of all videos contained 3 educational factors: treatment, screening, or prevention. There was no difference between the number of educational factors present & any user engagement measurement (p NS). SAM scores were higher in videos whose content discussed more educational factors (p<0.0001). However, none of the user engagement measurements correlated with higher SAM scores. Videos with greater educational content are more suitable for patient education but unable to engage users more than lower quality videos. It is unclear if the notion “content is king” applies to medical videos authored by credible organizations for the purposes of patient education on YouTube.  相似文献

Summary Polyethylene glycol 6000 mediated protoplast fusion between an alkane degrader Acinetobacter sp. A3, and a naphthalene degrader, Pseudomonas putida DP99 , resulted in fusants capable of degrading both hydrocarbons and were morphologically similar to Acinetobacter sp. A3. While fusant F4/13 and Pseudomonas putida DP99 degraded over 98% of naphthalene provided by the end of five days, tetradecane degradation by fusant F4/13 was 82% compared to 77% by Acinetobacter sp. A3 in the same time period. Also, while from naphthalene +tetradecane mixture, fusant F4/13 could degrade 99% and 53% of naphthalene and tetradecane respectively, both the parent strains together could degrade over 99% naphthalene but only about 16% tetradecane.  相似文献

We have implemented a Finite Difference Thermodynamic Integration (FDTI) approach to estimate the binding free energy relative to methotrexate (MTX) of three unreported inhibitors of DHFR. The validity of the calculation methodology was first proved by evaluating the relative binding free energy difference for two well-known anticancer agents aminopterin and methotrexate. The usefulness of the method in drug design has been demonstrated by the fact that inhibitor 5, designed by us was found to bind more tightly than MTX, by as much 7.5 kcal/mole and is a worthy candidate for further pharmacological investigations.  相似文献
