Calcium channel blockers, verapamil, nitrendipin and nifedipin, and cyclosporin A inhibited growth of colonies ofBotrytis cinerea in a concentration-dependent manner and simultaneously induced morphological changes of its hyphal tips. Exogenous calcium at the concentration of 100 mmol/L decreased the growth-inhibitory effects of channel blockers and cyclosporin A; however, at the concentration of 500 mmol/L Ca2+ their inhibitory effects were increased. At the latter concentration, calcium partly reversed the morphogenic effects of the blockers but not of cyclosporin A.  相似文献

We studied 630 bacterial strains isolated from surface waters and determined as enterococci on the basis of their growth on Slanetz-Bartley agar in typical colonies. The strains were tested and characterized by several key conventional tests for basic differentiation of enterococci and by commercial test kits. We identified 135 strains ofE. fœcium (21%), 115E. fœcalis (18%), 30E. mundtii (5%), 27E. hirae (4%), 22E. casseliflavus (3%), 21E. gallinarum (3%), 17E. durans-E. hirae complex (3%), 5E. durans (1%), and 1 strain ofE. avium. 150 strains were classified only asEnterococcus sp. (25%) and 107 strains (17%) isolated from Slanetz-Bartley agar were not enterococci. We found that the non-enterococcal group consisted of other Gram-positive cocci and Gram-positive and Gram-negative rods. Based on the identification we tried to find a relation between taxonomic position of isolated strains and their colony morphology on Slanetz-Bartley agar. Out of the total of 523 identified enterococci, 345 strains (66%) formed purple colonies, 136 red colonies (26%), 37 pink colonies (7%) and 5 cream colored colonies (1%). There was no correlation among the color, size or colony morphology and the taxonomic characterization of enterococcal strains.  相似文献

Populations of theChloretta vulgaris Beijeb. strain ?esnokov “V” clones (progenies of single cells) grown up from cells treated by chemical mutagens were cultivated on the surface of solid media. The differentiation of growth types according to their growth rates in the populations originating from the same sample of cells but growing under different conditions was compared. The strain studied exhibited much greater growth rate variability on the complete medium than on the minimal one. Short time changes of light regime during the cultivation for the purpose of inducing reparation processes in the mutagen damaged cells did not manifest themselves significantly in the composition of resulting clonal populations. The possibility of selection of growth types under conditions studied was considered.  相似文献

Biodiversity surveys of aquatic macroinvertebrates in standing water rely on various methods, but a thorough comparison of the techniques is lacking. This hampers analyses across surveys and impedes development of efficient sampling schemes. We compare the selectivity and efficiency of four methods commonly used to collect aquatic insects – activity traps (ATs), box trap (BT), handnetting (HN) and light trap (LT) – using a large dataset on water beetles in a site with ~100 species. We propose to use time investment as a natural basis to compare efficiency, since it applies to any method. The results inherently differ from results based on samples or individuals because methods are neither equally demanding nor equally rewarding. Most differences between methods arise from their size selectivity: ATs select for larger species, while HN and BT seem least selective. Attraction to light is taxon-specific and LT yields more depauperate samples than ATs, BT and HN, limiting the use of LT in community studies. To boost the development of cost-effective protocols, we also identify the best designs for rapid bioassesment by simulating short surveys from the data. Combinations of ATs and BT give most species; the results are robust to partitioning of effort between both methods. However, these rapid surveys miss on average more than 40% of all species in our study. Our results therefore emphasize that long-term studies using multiple methods are vital for measuring diversity in species-rich freshwater habitats.  相似文献

Background  

Mass spectrometry (MS) coupled with online separation methods is commonly applied for differential and quantitative profiling of biological samples in metabolomic as well as proteomic research. Such approaches are used for systems biology, functional genomics, and biomarker discovery, among others. An ongoing challenge of these molecular profiling approaches, however, is the development of better data processing methods.
