Disconnected (disco)-interacting protein 2 homolog A is a member of the DIP2 protein family encoded by Dip2a gene. Dip2a expression pattern has never been systematically studied. Functions of Dip2a in embryonic development and adult are not known. To investigate Dip2a gene expression and function in embryo and adult, a Dip2a-LacZ mouse model was generated by insertion of β-Gal cDNA after Dip2a promoter using CRISPR/Cas9 technology. Dip2a-LacZ mouse was designed to be a lacZ reporter mouse as well as a Dip2a knockout mouse. Heterozygous mice were used to study endogenous Dip2a expression and homozygotes to study DIP2A-associated structure and function. LacZ staining indicated that Dip2a is broadly expressed in neuronal, reproductive and vascular tissues, as well as in heart, kidney, liver and lung. Results demonstrate that Dip2a is expressed in ectoderm-derived tissues in developing embryos. Adult tissues showed rich staining in neurons, mesenchymal, endothelial, smooth muscle cells and cardiomyocytes by cell types. The expression pattern highly overlaps with FSTL1 and supports previous report that DIP2A to be potential receptor of FSTL1 and its protective roles of cardiomyocytes. Broad and intense embryonic and adult expression of Dip2a has implied their multiple structural and physiological roles. 相似文献

Natural antibodies to interferon (IFN)-γ were detected in the serum of virus-infected patients and also, at a low titre, in
the serum of healthy subjects. The increased titre of antibodies to IFN-γ in the sera of virus-infected patients, and its
decrease with clinical resolution, indicate that these antibodies are related to viral infection and probably reflect IFN-γ
production as a result of antigenic stimulationin vivo. Natural antibodies to IFN-γ were affinity purified and studied for their capability to interferein vitro with the multiple activities of the lymphokine. Data obtained show that these human anti-IFN-γ antibodies have no inhibitory
effect on the antiviral and antiproliferative activity of IFN-γ and do not interfere with the binding of the lymphokine to
its specific cell receptor. Instead, they can inhibit the expression of HLA-DR antigens induced by IFN-γ on U937 cells and
interfere, in mixed lymphocyte culture, with the proliferation of lymphocytes and the generation of cytotoxic lymphocytes.
Experiments in animal models suggest that natural antibodies to IFN-γ may have a role in the immunoregulatory process limiting
the intensity and/or duration of immune response. As they can interfere only with the immunomodulating activities of IFN-γ,

Acute radiation syndrome or acute radiation sickness is classically subdivided into three subsyndromes: the hematopoietic, gastrointestinal and neurovascular syndrome but many other tissues can be damaged. The time course and severity of clinical signs and symptoms are a function of the overall body volume irradiated, the inhomogeneity of dose exposure, the particle type, the absorbed dose and the dose rate. Classical pathophysiology explain the failure of each of these organs and the timing of appearance of their signs and symptoms due to radiation-induced cytocidal effects of a great number of parenchymal cells of hierarchically organized tissues. Contemporaneously, many other radiation-induced effects has been described and all of them may lead to tissue injury with their corresponding signs and symptoms that can be expressed after short or long period of time. Lettuce crops, Lactuca sativa, organically produced in La Plata, Argentina, were sampled in order to determine the prevalence of fungal diseased aphids. Nasonovia ribisnigri was the only aphid detected and its occurrence was highly variable. The fungal pathogen Pandora neoaphidis (Entomophthoromycotina: Entomophthorales) was the only pathogen detected. We recorded a maximum of 34.2 aphids per plant and the highest rate of fungal prevalence was 56.6% (n = 30) (aphids infected/total aphids). Infected aphids were observed in all sampling sites. No differences of infection rates were detected between the center and the edge of crops. Host density was an important factor determining infection. The majority of host population was comprised of nymphs which were the most infected in terms of individuals per habitat unit (lettuce plant), but considering the proportion of infected aphids per stage of development, the prevalence of infection in nymphs and adults was similar. 相似文献

Candida species are an important cause of bloodstream infections (BSI). To evaluate the epidemiological, clinical and microbiological aspects of two cohorts {1994-1999 [period 1 (P1) ]; 2000-2004 [period 2 (P2) ]} of candidaemic patients, we performed a retrospective analysis from a laboratory-based survey. A total of 388 candidaemias were identified, with an incidence of 0.20/1,000 patient-days and a significant increase in P2 vs. P1 (0.25 vs. 0.15, p = 0.04). Cancer and prior antibiotic use were frequent and Candida albicans was the most prevalent species found (42.4%). Resistance to fluconazole was found in 2.47% of the strains. No differences were observed in the species distribution of Candida during the study periods. In the P2 cohort, there were higher prevalence of elderly individuals, cardiac, pulmonary and liver diseases, renal failure, central venous catheters and antibiotic therapy. In P1, there were higher prevalence of neurological diseases and chemotherapy. The crude mortality was 55.4%. In conclusion, our incidence rates remained high. Furthermore, the distribution pattern of Candida species and the fluconazole resistance profile remained unchanged. Moreover, we found a clear trend of higher prevalence of candidaemia among the elderly and among patients with comorbidities. Finally, it is necessary to discuss strategies for the prevention and control of Candida BSI in Brazil. 相似文献
