The total population affected with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and treated by means of radiotherapy or combined radio-chemotherapy between 1960 and 1985 at the Medical Academy Dresden was analysed as to prognosis. 247 patients were classified according to the previous German scheme, 79 were subdivided on the basis of the recommendations laid down in the Kiel classification. The remission rates and survival curves achieved will stand out the comparison with international literature (remission rates of the low malignancy group amounted to 85.3 p.c. and those of the high malignancy group to 80.0 p.c.; the 5-years survival rates of the low malignancy group amounted to 61.9 p.c. and those of the high malignancy group to 41.7 p.c.). The influence of histology, clinical stage and involvement of organs is discussed on the basis of our results and informations obtained in literature. Our analysis confirms the high importance which must be attached to a common radiologic-internal outpatient-department for co-ordinating the diagnostic and therapeutical programme.  相似文献

Candidate single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) from genome-wide association studies (GWASs) were often selected for validation based on their functional annotation, which was inadequate and biased. We propose to use the more than 200,000 microarray studies in the Gene Expression Omnibus to systematically prioritize candidate SNPs from GWASs.  相似文献

Five cruises to the Faroe Bank in the northeast Atlantic revealed a rich loriciferan fauna inhabiting shell gravel to fine carbonate sand. This paper describes two new species of Pliciloricus found at depths of 120-260 m. Currently, only six species of this genus have been described from various localities around the world, but several new species are currently being described. The diagnosis of the genus Pliciloricus is emended to include the two new taxa. The first of the two new species Pliciloricus leocaudatus sp. n. is characterized by having four new kinds of scalids in the second row and an additional row of alternating plates in the eighth row. The second species Pliciloricus shukeri sp. n. is characterized in having a secondary double organ in the third row. The morphology of the two species, including the new structures, has been investigated using LM and scanning electron microscopy. Conclusively, the scalid pattern of the introvert of Pliciloricus has been re-evaluated, due to the finding of the new structures. Additionally, a discussion of the life cycle of the genus Pliciloricus is given, since the postlarval stage is reduced in both new species.  相似文献

24-Keto-1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 has been identified as an intestinal metabolite of 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 by ultraviolet absorbance, mass spectroscopy, and chemical reactivity. The metabolite was produced from 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 and 1,24R,25-trihydroxyvitamin D3 in rat intestinal mucosa homogenates. 24-Keto-1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 is present in vivo in the plasma and small intestinal mucosa of rats fed a stock diet, receiving no exogenous 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3, and in the plasma and small intestinal mucosa of rats dosed chronically with 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3. 24-Keto-1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 has affinity equivalent to 1,24R,25-trihydroxyvitamin D3 for the 3.7 S cytosolic receptor specific for 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 in the intestine and thymus. In cytosolic preparations contaminated with the 5 S vitamin D-binding protein, both metabolites are about 7-fold less potent than 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3. In contrast, in cytosolic preparations largely free of the 5 S binding protein, both metabolites are equipotent with the parent compound. No evidence was obtained supporting a substantial presence of 23-keto-1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 in vivo; nor was the latter compound generated in detectable amounts from 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 by intestinal homogenates. Thus, C-24 oxidation is a significant pathway of intestinal 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 metabolism that produces metabolites with high affinity for the cytosolic receptor which mediates vitamin D action.  相似文献

Crest cells individualized at the dorsal border of the neural tube, while they became surrounded by a fibronectin-rich matrix. Crest cells initiated their migration between the basement membranes of the neural tube and the ectoderm. In the vagal region, crest cells migrated in a fibronectin-rich environment between the ectoderm and the dermomyotome, very rapidly reaching the apex of the pharynx. In the trunk region, crest cells opposite the bulk of the somite accumulated at the junction between the somite, the neural tube, and the ectoderm; they resumed their migration at the onset of the dissociation of the somite into dermomyotome and sclerotome. Migration occurred more ventrally along the neural tube; nevertheless, the formation of the rapidly expanding sclerotome prevented crest cells from reaching the paranotochordal region. Thereafter, crest cells accumulated between the neural tube, the dermomyotome, and the sclerotome, where ultimately they formed the dorsal root ganglia. In contrast, cells opposite the intersomitic space did not encounter these obstacles and utilized a narrow pathway formed between the basement membranes of the two adjacent somites. This pathway allowed crest cells to reach the most ventral regions of the embryo very rapidly; they accumulated along the aorta to form the aortic plexuses, the adrenal medulla, and the sympathetic ganglia. The basic features of the migration pathways are (1) a strict delimitation by the fibronectin-rich basement membranes of the surrounding tissues, (2) a formation of space concomitant with the migration of crest cells, (3) a transient existence: continued migration is correlated with the presence of fibronectin, whereas cessation is correlated with its focal disappearance. The crest cells are characterized by their inability to traverse basement membranes and penetrate within tissues. We propose that the combination of active proliferation, unique motility properties, and the presence of narrow pathways are the major mechanisms ensuring correct directionality. Morphologically defined transient routes of migration along with developmentally regulated changes in the extracellular matrix and in the adhesive properties of crest cells are most probably involved in their stabilization in defined territories and their aggregation into ganglia.  相似文献
