AimThe aim was to provide a dosimetric comparison between IMRT and RapidArc treatment plans with RPI index with simultaneous comparison of the treatment delivery time.BackgroundIMRT and RapidArc provide highly conformal dose distribution with good sparing of normal tissues. However, a complex spatial dosimetry of IMRT and RapidArc plans hampers the evaluation and comparison between plans calculated for the two modalities. RPI was used in this paper for treatment plan comparisons. The duration of the therapeutic session in RapidArc is reported to be shorter in comparison to therapeutic time of the other dynamic techniques. For this reasons, total treatment delivery time in both techniques was compared and discussed.Materials and methods15 patients with prostate carcinoma were randomly selected for the analysis. Two competitive treatment plans using respectively the IMRT and RapidArc techniques were computed for each patient in Eclipse planning system v. 8.6.15. RPIwin® application was used for RPI calculations for each treatment plan.Additionally, total treatment time was compared between IMRT and RapidArc plans. Total treatment time was a sum of monitor units (MU) for each treated field.ResultsThe mean values of the RPI indices were insignificantly higher for IMRT plans in comparison to rotational therapy. Comparison of the mean numbers of monitor units confirmed that the use of rotational technique instead of conventional static field IMRT can significantly reduce the treatment time.ConclusionAnalysis presented in this paper, demonstrated that RapidArc can compete with the IMRT technique in the field of treatment plan dosimetry reducing the time required for dose delivery.  相似文献

  1. As a highly endangered species, the giant panda (panda) has attracted significant attention in the past decades. Considerable efforts have been put on panda conservation and reproduction, offering the promising outcome of maintaining the population size of pandas. To evaluate the effectiveness of conservation and management strategies, recognizing individual pandas is critical. However, it remains a challenging task because the existing methods, such as traditional tracking method, discrimination method based on footprint identification, and molecular biology method, are invasive, inaccurate, expensive, or challenging to perform. The advances of imaging technologies have led to the wide applications of digital images and videos in panda conservation and management, which makes it possible for individual panda recognition in a noninvasive manner by using image‐based panda face recognition method.
  2. In recent years, deep learning has achieved great success in the field of computer vision and pattern recognition. For panda face recognition, a fully automatic deep learning algorithm which consists of a sequence of deep neural networks (DNNs) used for panda face detection, segmentation, alignment, and identity prediction is developed in this study. To develop and evaluate the algorithm, the largest panda image dataset containing 6,441 images from 218 different pandas, which is 39.78% of captive pandas in the world, is established.
  3. The algorithm achieved 96.27% accuracy in panda recognition and 100% accuracy in detection.
  4. This study shows that panda faces can be used for panda recognition. It enables the use of the cameras installed in their habitat for monitoring their population and behavior. This noninvasive approach is much more cost‐effective than the approaches used in the previous panda surveys.

Cadmium ions introduced at concentration of 30 ppm to the cultivation medium of synchronously growing Chlorella vulgaris decreased concentration of chlorophylls a and b, carotenes alpha and beta and lutein at various stages of the cell cycle, while at concentration of 1 ppm synthesis of the photosynthetic pigments was stimulated. The pigment content in the cadmium treated cells was related to the morphometrically determined changes in the size and shape of the cells.  相似文献

U-48753E is a potential human drug which was subjected to a battery of short-term assays for genetic activity. The compound was negative in the Salmonella (Ames) test, the in vitro UDS assay, the mouse bone-marrow micronucleus test and the Drosophila sex-linked recessive lethal assay. However, it was weakly positive in the CHO/HPRT assay in the presence of metabolic activation (S9). The weak positive response might easily have been labeled artifactual since there was no dose response and the dose level producing positive findings varied from experiment to experiment. In addition, the weak positive response was not confirmed in V79 cells. However, a reproducible dose-related increase in mutants was observed in the AS52/XPRT assay in the presence of S9. Metabolism of this drug proceeds through conversion of aliphatic N-methyl groups to formaldehyde. Addition of formaldehyde dehydrogenase to the S9 resulted in elimination of the mutagenicity of the compound in AS52 cells. Thus, the mutants were probably induced by formaldehyde. From the endogenous levels of formaldehyde in human blood, and the limiting potential therapeutic dose levels, the genotoxic hazard associated with U-48753E is marginal. This assessment of risk and its quantitation depend upon an understanding metabolism and exposure limits imposed by known side effects of the drug. This study can serve as a model for quantitative genetic risk assessment when mutagenicity is due to N-demethylation and formation of formaldehyde in situ.  相似文献

125I-Wheat germ agglutinin (WGA) binding parameters of human urothelial cell lines of different grades of transformation (TGrll and TGrlll) were compared. The values of association constant (Ka) and the number of binding sites/cell for HCV29 (TGrll) cell line were about 3×106M–1 and over 4×107, respectively. Two TGrlll cell lines, HCV29T and Hu549 revealed lower values for Ka, and considerably higher numbers of binding sites/cell (about 3×108 and 2×108, respectively). Binding of125I-WGA to total cellular proteins resolved by SDS-PAGE and transferred to nitrocellulose showed multiple diffused bands in the range of 58–180 kDa. Summary The expression of MHC class II determinants Ia.7 (detected by cross reactive mouse anti-Iak antibody) and HLA-DR on monocytes (MO) of gastric and colorectal cancer patients was examined. An increased proportion of MO bearing the Ia.7 determinant was found, while the number of MO expressing DR was not elevated. In gastric cancer patients the increased expression of the Ia.7 determinant was most pronounced in advanced cancer (stage IVA and IVB). The increased expression of this determinant was related to the presence of the tumour as the number of MO expressing Ia.7 decreased 6 months following surgical resection of the tumour. Further, the increased expression of Ia.7 on MO correlated with the tumour infiltration of the serosa. The Ia.7 determinants were mainly expressed on MO which also expressed the receptor for the Fc part of immunoglobulin. Immunostaining in cellular infiltrates surrounding the tumour revealed that Ia.7+ macrophages (MØ) were more numerous than in normal gastric mucosa and severe chronic gastritis and were mostly present in close proximity to tumour cells, while DR+ MØ were mainly localized within the stromal tissue of the tumour and their number was not increased in cancer infiltrates. These observations indicate that the Ia.7+ subpopulation of MØ may be involved in the anti-tumour response of the host.  相似文献

Abstract Highly specific polyclonal and antibodies against either nitrate, nitrite or nitrous oxide reductases from a photosynthetic denitrifying bacterium Rhodobacter sphaeroides f. sp. denitrificans were used to show the presence of immunologically reactive proteins in strains that Pellerin and Gest had shown to grow in the dark with nitrate as a terminal acceptor [9]. Two strains of this bacterium, namely 81-3 and 2.4.3 synthesized the three denitrifying enzymes and were capable of denitrification. Strains 81-1 and 2.4.1 (neotype) both expressed nitrate reductase activities but nitrite reductase was not detected since these strains did not reduce nitrite. They also did not grow in the dark with nitrate as a terminal acceptor. Each of strains 81-1, 81-3, 2.4.1 and 2.4.3 contain four plasmids. R. sphaeroides f. sp. denitrificans , however, contains only one large 108 kb plasmid, which is distinctly different in size from those detected in the other strains. This indicates that the 108 kb plasmid is not necessarily specific for denitrification.  相似文献

Galanin is a recently isolated neuropeptide that is of particular interest in dementing disorders because of its known colocalization with choline acetyltransferase in magnocellular neurons of the basal nucleus of Meynert. These neurons degenerate in Alzheimer's disease, and there is a corresponding deficiency of cortical choline acetyltransferase activity. In the present study, galanin-like immunoreactivity was measured in the postmortem cerebral cortex and hippocampus of 10 controls and 14 patients who had had Alzheimer's disease. Significant reductions of choline acetyltransferase activity (50-60%) were found in all regions examined; however, there was no significant effect on concentrations of galanin-like immunoreactivity. Similar measurements were made in postmortem tissues of 12 control and 13 demented Parkinsonian patients who had had Alzheimer-type cortical pathology. Choline acetyltransferase activity was again significantly decreased in all regions examined but there were no significant reductions in galanin-like immunoreactivity. Experimental lesions of the fornix in rats produced parallel significantly correlated reductions of both choline acetyltransferase activity and galanin-like immunoreactivity in the hippocampus. Galanin-like immunoreactivity in the human hypothalamus consisted of two molecular-weight species on gel-permeation chromatography, and two forms were resolved by reverse-phase HPLC. The paradoxical preservation of galanin-like immunoreactivity, despite depletion of the activity of choline acetyltransferase, with which it is colocalized, is as yet unexplained. Recent studies have shown that galanin inhibits both acetylcholine release in the hippocampus and memory acquisition; therefore, preserved galanin may exacerbate the cholinergic and cognitive deficits that accompany dementia.  相似文献

Nerve growth factor (NGF) induces degranulation of rat peritoneal mast cells (RPMC) in a dose-dependent manner, providing direct evidence for its action on non-neuronal tissues. Activation of RPMC by NGF depends on lysophosphatidylserine and extracellular calcium. NGF-mediated RPMC degranulation is not coupled to a transient increase in intracellular free calcium ([Ca2+]i). It is suggested that NGF has a unique mode of action independent of [Ca2+]i and presumably also without involving protein kinase C activation as indicated by the effects of phorbol esters and NGF on antigen-evoked [Ca2+]i rise.  相似文献

Two methods are described for locating the O-(carboxymethyl) groups in O-(carboxymethyl)guar. In Method I, O-(carboxymethyl)guar was depolymerized by methanolysis, the O-(carboxymethyl) groups were reduced, and the mixture of methyl glycosides and O-(2-hydroxyethyl)-substituted methyl glycosides was converted into a mixture of per-O-acetylated alditols and partially O-(2-acetoxyethyl)ated, partially O-acetylated alditols. Analysis of these alditols by gas-liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry allowed the positions of substitution of the O-(carboxymethyl) groups on the galactosyl groups and mannosyl residues to be determined. However, this method did not distinguish between O-(carboxymethyl) substitution on 4-linked and 4,6-linked mannosyl residues. This limitation was overcome by the more-detailed analysis provided by Method II, in which O-(carboxymethyl)guar was carboxyl-reduced, the product methylated, the glycosyl residues hydrolyzed, the sugars reduced, and the alditols acetylated to yield a mixture of partially O-acetylated, partially O-methylated alditols and partially O-acetylated, partially O-(2-methoxyethyl)ated, partially O-methylated alditols. These derivatives, when separated and quantitated by g.l.c., and identified by g.l.c.-m.s., gave a quantitative measure of every type of carboxymethyl substitution in guar.  相似文献
