 Chromosome pairing at metaphase-I was analyzed in F1 hybrids among T. turgidum (AABB), T. aestivum (AABBDD), and T. timopheevii (AtAtGG) to study the chromosome structure of T. timopheevii relative to durum (T. turgidum) and bread (T. aestivum) wheats. Individual chromosomes and their arms were identified by means of C-banding. Homologous pairing between the A-genome chromosomes was similar in the three hybrid types AAtBG, AAtBGD, and AABBD. However, associations of B-G were less frequent than B-B. Homoeologous associations were also observed, especially in the AAtBGD hybrids. T. timopheevii chromosomes 1At, 2At, 5At, 7At, 2G, 3G, 5G, and 6G do not differ structurally from their counterpart in the A and B genomes. Thus, these three polyploid species inherited translocation 5AL/4AL from the diploid A-genome donor. Chromosome rearrangements that occurred at the tetraploid level were different in T. turgidum and T. timopheevii. Translocation 4AL/7BS and a pericentric inversion of chromosome 4A originated only in the T. turgidum lineage. The two lines of T. timophevii studied carry four different translocations, 6AtS/1GS, 1GS/4GS, 4GS/4AtL, and 4AtL/3AtL, which most likely arose in that sequence. The aim of this paper is to test with genomic in situ hybridization the genomic affinities between maize and its putative progenitor Zea mays subsp. parviglumis. Blocking procedures were applied for the purpose of improving discrimination among chromosome regions. Unlabeled genomic DNA from Z. mays subsp. parviglumis as a blocking agent and labeled genomic DNA from maize were hybridized on maize chromosomes. On the other hand, mitotic metaphases from Z. mays subsp. parviglumis were blocked with unlabeled genomic DNA of maize and hybridized with labeled genomic DNA from Z. mays subsp. parviglumis. Both experiments showed that either maize or Z. mays subsp. parviglumis chromosomes have their own unique sequences. This means an unexpected degree of divergence if Z. mays subsp. parviglumis is the only progenitor of maize, a result that is discussed in relation to our previous genomic in situ hybridization observations and to the different scenarios proposed about the origin of maize.  相似文献

A naloxone-reversible enhancement of systolic blood pressure (BP) was induced in rats by application of three different types of stressor, i.e. intense light and sound, cold and foot-shock. In the case of labile high BP provoked by short-term isolation, the opiate antagonist naloxone (1 mg/Kg, i.p.) was also found to reverse hypertension. Naltrexone (2.5 mg/Kg, i.p.) also diminished high BP readings of briefly isolated rats. Conversely, blockade of the opiate receptor with naloxone did not alter elevated BP in cases of established hypertension (spontaneously hypertensive rats, deoxycorticosterone (DOCA)-salt rats and long-term isolated rats). These data can be taken as an evidence of opioid involvement at the onset of high BP readings induced by stress. However, once hypertension becomes established, the opioid system appears to recover its silent features.  相似文献

Substance P (SP), physalaemin, SP4-11, SP5-11 and the SP5-11 analog DiMe-C7 induce an antinociceptive effect in rats after intraventricular administration. Other tachykinins and the N-terminal fragments of SP are inactive. All antinociceptive peptides increase the Met-enkephalin efflux from slices of rat periaqueductal gray matter and their antinociceptive potency is correlated with their capacity to release Met-enkephalin. The results, discussed in the light of current theories on different tachykinin receptors, suggest that the SP-P receptor subtype may be involved in the control of noxious stimulation elicited by SP at supraspinal levels.  相似文献

Wheat-rye chromosome associations at metaphase I studied by Naranjo and Fernández-Rueda (1991) in ph1b ABDR hybrids have been reanalysed to establish the frequency of pairing between individual chromosomes of wheat and rye. Wheat chromosomes, except for 2A and 2D, and their arms were identified by C-banding. Diagnostic C-bands and other cytological markers such as telocentrics or translocations were used to identify each one of the rye chromosomes and their arms. Both the amount of telomeric C-heterochromatin and the structure of the rye chromosomes relative to wheat affected the level of wheatrye pairing. The degree to which rye chromosomes paired with their wheat homoeologues varied with each of the three wheat genomes; in most groups, the B-R association was more frequent than the A-R or D-R associations. Recombination between arms 1RL and 2RL and their homoeologues of wheat possessing a different telomeric C-banding pattern was detected and quantified at anaphase I. The frequency of recombinant chromosomes obtained supports the premise that recombination between wheat and rye chromosomes may be estimated from wheat-rye pairing.  相似文献

Homoeologous pairing at meiotic metaphase I was analyzed in T. longissimum x T. aestivum hybrids in order to reconfirm the homoeologous relationships of T. longissimum chromosomes to wheat. Hybrids between T. longissimum and Chinese Spring carrying the Ph1 gene or theph1b mutation, which showed low and high pairing levels, respectively, were used. Chromosome arms associated at metaphase I were identified by C-banding. The homoeology of chromosomes 1S l , 2S l , 3S l , 5S l and 6S l to wheat group 1,2, 3, 5, and 6 chromosomes, respectively, was confirmed. Chromsome arms 4S l S and 7S l S showed normal homoeologous relationships to wheat. The 4S l L arm carries a translocated segment from 7S l L relative to wheat. The 7S l L arm seldom paired, likely because this arm lost a relatively long segment and received a very short segment in the interchange with 4S l L. Available data suggest that translocation 4S l L/7S l L arose in the evolution of T. longissimum, which implies that this species was not the donor of the B genome of wheat.  相似文献

Chromosomal pairing of one triploid and three tetraploid plants of rye, Secale cereale, was analyzed by electron microscopy in surface-spread prophase I nuclei and compared with light microscopic observations of metaphase I cells. Prophase I is characterized by: (i) the weak alignment showed by the three or four unsynapsed or partially homologous synapsed axes; (ii) the low number ber of pairing partner switches (PPSs) displayed by both trivalents and quadrivalents; and (iii) the existence of complex multivalents in which up to 13 chromosomes in the triploid and 22 chromosomes in the tetraploids were involved. However, only few heterologous chromosomal associations were maintained at metaphase I. The results obtained are discussed under the assumptions of the random end pairing model with some modifications.  相似文献

Changes in temperature and moisture as a result of climate forcing can impact performance of planted trees. Tree performance may also be sensitive to new soil conditions, for example, brought about by seeds germinating in soils different from those colonized by ancestral populations. Such “edaphic constraint” may occur with natural migration or human‐assisted movement. Pinus ponderosa seedlings, sourced from one location (“home” site), were grown across a field environmental gradient in either their original home soil or in soils from two different “away” sites. Seedlings were inoculated with site‐specific soil organisms by germinating seeds in living soil. After 6 months, the inoculated seedlings were transplanted into sterilized soils from the home or away sites. This experimental design allowed us to uncouple the importance of abiotic and biotic soil properties and test (1) how biotic and abiotic soil properties interact with climate to influence plant growth and stress tolerance, and (2) the role of soil biota in facilitating growth in novel environments. Seedlings grew least in hotter and drier away sites with away soil biota. Home soil biota ameliorated negative impacts on growth of hotter and drier away sites. Measurements of photosynthetic rate, stomatal conductance, and chlorophyll florescence (Fv/Fm) suggest that edaphic constraint reduced growth by increasing tree water stress. Results suggest that success of Ponderosa pine plantings into warming environments will be enhanced by pre‐inoculation with native soil biota of the seed source.  相似文献
