Mentha longifolia L. is well-known to be one of the most pervasive wild-growing species of the Lamiaceae family, which has extensive beneficial properties in the fields of pharmacology and biological products. In the present study, the correlation between Inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR) markers and morpho-chemical parameters of twenty different M. longifolia accessions (MLACs) were assessed. The geographic information system (GIS) has been employed to interpret the original habitat of the accessions in Iran. ISSR analysis indicated a remarkable difference in the studied accessions, segregated them into three main groups, constructed by an unweighted pair-group method with arithmetic (UPGMA) and principal coordinate analysis (PCoA). A total of 89 bands were generated by 12 ISSR primers, among which 82 (91.97 %) of them were polymorphic. The cluster analysis based on agro-morphological data scattered MLACs into two main groups. The essential oils (EOs) were analyzed through GC/FID/MS, and four chemotypes were characterized according to the major constituents. Pulegone ranged from 0.17 to 69.50 % was the main oil constituent with the highest content. Also, HPLC-PDA was employed to identify and to quantify the phenolic compounds in the MeOH extracts of MLACs. Heatmap cluster based on phenolic compounds produced three main categories of accessions. The components identified in the extracts were rosmarinic acid, rutin, vanillic acid, ferulic acid, chlorogenic acid, caffeic acid, 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid, 2,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid, and p-coumaric acid, which among them rosmarinic acid (RA) varied from 39.16 to 261.55 mg/100 g (DW) as a predominant constituent. Subsequently, multiple regression analyses between ISSR fragments and morpho-chemical data illustrated considerable relationships in the plant materials. The high variation and correlation observed in metabolic and phenotypic traits of MLACs establish an adequate source to conduct reserves conservation programs.  相似文献

A mobile calf enclosure was developed which incorporated a hydraulic hoist and sling for the care of calves. This apparatus permitted induction of and emergence from anesthesia in an erect posture, which decreased the risk of aspiration and postoperative pulmonary problems. Fifty-two surgical procedures requiring general anesthesia have been performed on 29 calves during the last 2 years with only one operative death, and calves have been maintained within the enclosure for periods up to 1 month.  相似文献

The effect of different atmospheric CO2 concentrations on life table parameters and the biology of the cabbage aphid, Brevicoryne brassicae, when fed on two cultivars of ornamental cabbage, was studied in a greenhouse designed for CO2 studies. Aphid performance was influenced by increasing atmospheric CO2 levels, significantly affecting the intrinsic rate of increase (rm), finite rate of increase (λ), mean generation time (T), doubling time (DT), and pre-reproductive period. The longest pre-reproductive period was observed for aphids grown at 380 ppm CO2. The intrinsic rate of natural increase was highest for aphids at 1050 ppm CO2, because of their faster development, high daily rate of progeny production, and higher survivorship. Future elevated CO2 concentrations will enhance aphid population outbreaks and consequently increase the damage caused.  相似文献

The fitness of natural enemies should be altered in response to changes in herbivore quality induced by the impact of increased atmospheric CO2 levels on plants. We studied the effect of different CO2 levels on the aphid predator Episyrphus balteatus DeGeer fed either specialist or generalist aphids reared on either of two host plants under laboratory conditions. In the host plant that contains sinigrin (black mustard), elevated CO2 increased the sinigrin content of both host plant and the specialist aphid, but reduced the already very low levels in the generalist aphid. Predator development time increased with elevated CO2, while fecundity decreased. Consequently, individual fitness decreased slightly with increasing atmospheric CO2. Sinigrin significantly decreased fecundity and increased development time of the predator. As a result, fitness was significantly lower too. The consumption rate was influenced significantly by plant and prey solely and the interactions of host plant × prey type and CO2 level × prey type. Further research on the effects of climate change parameters (e.g. greenhouse gases such as CO2, ozone (O3) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2), etc.) separately and jointly under controlled environmental conditions will help to understand the nature and direction of their effects on natural enemies as part of the tritrophic system.  相似文献

Background Mycobacterium ulcerans is the fundamental agent of the third most common Mycobacterial disease known as Buruli Ulcer (BU). It is an infection of the skin and soft tissue affecting the human population worldwide. Presently, the vaccine is not available against BU.ObjectiveThis study aimed to investigate the vaccine potential of virulence proteins of M. ulcerans computationally.MethodsChromosome encoded virulence proteins of Mycobacterium ulcerans strain Agy99 were selected, which were available at the VFDB database. These proteins were analyzed for their subcellular localization, antigenicity, and human non-homology analysis. Ten virulence factors were finally chosen and analyzed for further study. Three-dimensional structures for selected proteins were predicted using Phyre2. B cell and T cell epitope analysis was done using methods available at Immune Epitope Database and Analysis Resource. Antigenicity, allergenicity, and toxicity analysis were also done to predict epitopes. Molecular docking analysis was done for T cell epitopes, those showing overlap with B cell epitopes.ResultsSelected virulence proteins were predicted with B cell and T cell epitopes. Some of the selected proteins were found to be already reported as antigenic in other mycobacteria. Some of the predicted epitopes also had similarities with experimentally identified epitopes of M. ulcerans and M. tuberculosis which further supported our predictions.ConclusionIn-silico approach used for the vaccine candidate identification predicted some virulence proteins that could be proved important in future vaccination strategies against this chronic disease. Predicted epitopes require further experimental validation for their potential use as peptide vaccines.  相似文献
